I'll go with steroid trial as his nonpush seemed to occur when he was smaller. I grew up watching Virgil: The jobber years, where he was an in shape guy like a boxer, but not massive, then a few years later I got a tape with part of his run with DiBiase and couldn't believe it was the same guy, he was big and menacing. He didn't have the skills to justify a push otherwise and he never seemed to improve.
I quite liked him as Curly Bill in WCW, and as a member of the NWO B team and I have no idea why.

Could never work out if this was legit or not. I am 95% Sure that's legit. It looks like the parking lot for the Lakehurst Naval Air Base. They have the Blue Angels do shows once or twice a year there, and that looks like how they setup the parking lot. If your wondering why you've heard of the Lakehurst Naval Air Base its where the Hindenburg disaster took place. There's a memorial to it in the middle of the parking lot where the landing rod for Zeppelins still stands. Also its one of the places that the Blue Angels had one of those huge accidents you still see on TV today.

I am sure Virgil wrestled Bret Hart for the WWF belt at least once in his career. Surely wrestling the champ would constitute a push.

Not gonna lie...as a kid I was a huge Virgil mark...I used to trade WWF Hasbros with friends at school and LOD and Virgil were the only guys I would never give up... I was too. And honestly, every kid I knew back then was a Virgil fan. He was really over with kids, which is something that seems to have been forgotten by most people now. Hell, I remember at a house show I went to in September of 1992 his t-shirts were a big seller and he got one of the biggest pops of the night. But nobody is as big of a Virgil mark as the man himself (to hear his shoot, you'd think he was one of the biggest stars in the history of wrestling).

Also the shadow that the booth is casting seems to be consistent with the shadow the guy walking in the background is casting. And that's the extent of my amateur detective work.

The true question is why did he last so long in WCW? He didn't wrestle... He managed... But didn't talk? But, why was he there for all that time!!! His entire career was basically being a rib for the competition (Virgil on Dusty Rhodes, and WCW for Vince/Shane) Vince should rehire him for a couple of shows to work as Ted Dibiase (Jr.)'s bodygaurd, but name him either "Dana" or "Dixie."

He did get a few wins - he beat Bastion Booger in what was BB's WWF TV debut, and he did get wins at house shows over departing talent like the Repo Man and Terry Taylor. But you leave out a few doosies - Blake Beverly (after Beau had left the WWF, Blake wrestled singles for a while) got wins over him, for cripe's sake. (God, how I love ThehistoryofWWE.com....)

He also won against no name enchancement talent, so he wasn't a pure jobber, a jobber to the stars. Here he is dominating a match against a young Balls Mahoney....

He was allowed to have Sid break his nose, and wear that awesome mask. Also, I doubt anyone wanted to mess with Virgilina.

Could never work out if this was legit or not. We need more pictures of Virgil and his table in random places.

Two things:
1) Why does he have Dibiase's name on the Banner? Dibiase isnt making these appearence with him is he? If he is a true Superstar wouldnt he have his name in large letters and Dibiase name underneith in smaller letters?
2) Also Dibiase is spelled wrong, he has Dibaise. LOL

Wow. This is the first and last time we'll ever see Kane being compared to Virgil. Why is that? Kane was brought in only to feud with Undertaker. If they wanted to, they could've stopped there, but they didn't. Virgil was brought in to be Dibiase's lackey and later feud with him. While Kane reached far greater heights, he was brought in essentially the same way Virgil was. So yes, they could've done something with Virgil if they wanted to.

What makes that picture of "Dibaise" so extremely sad (as if sitting out in the middle of a taped-off street isn't sad enough) is that Virgil is a teacher in real life....
A math teacher, but still.......teachers know how to spell, man...

The reaction he got at Summerslam 91 when he beet Ted Dibiase for the Million Dollar belt was such a huge pop, you do wonder if they could have done something more with him. He could have maybe had a run with the IC title, maybe formed a tag team to challenge Money Inc.
Ofcourse, maybe the problem was that once he had beaten Dibiase the people just no longer cared. He had stood up to his tormentor at long last, the crowd had already got their payoff and then there was nothing left.
