My nominees are:
Best Picture: Avatar, I legitimately think it was the best overall film last year.
Best Director: Quentin Tarantino, love the dude's work, and he truly deserves it.
Best Actor: Jeff Bridges. Now, I truly think he did have the best actor performance of the year, but I think he'll get it cause he is "due" his Oscar.
Best Actress: Sandra Bullock, only because Meryl Streep is her only true opponent and Streep will likely have another Best Actress nod next year. Well that, and Julie & Julia was one of Streep's weakest performances ever.
Best Supporting Actor: Christopher Waltz, for crying out loud, CHRISTOPHER WALTZ! This is by far the EASIEST award of the night, next to Up clearly winning Best Animated Picture. No offense to all the other actors nominated, but Waltz was by and far the best supporting actor of the year.
Best Supporting Actress: Mo'Nique. It is either her or Maggie Gyllenhaal. But I think it is gonna be Mo'Nique, because come on, when else will she been up for an award of this magnitude? Gyllenhaal has a bright future ahead of her, Mo'Nique, well...doesn't. That, and Mo'Nique will probably have the best acceptance speech of the entire night ready.
Best Original Screenplay: Inglourious Basterds. Just another brilliant script from QT.
Best Adapted Screenplay: Precious. Just cause.
Best Animated Picture: Up, easily Up.
Best Foreign Film: Ajami. I have not seen a single one of these films, but Ajami has the most catchy title to me. So I picked it.
Best Documentary Feature: The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers. Again, same as Foreign Film. Didn't see any, so voted for the best title.
Best Documentary Short: China’s Unnatural Disaster: The Tears of Sichuan Province. See above.
Best Live Action Short: The Door. See above.
Best Animated Short: A Matter of Loaf and Death. Totally see above. EDIT: I saw looked it up, and it is a Wallace & Gromit short? Oh totally gonna win!
Best Original Score: Avatar. Just cause.
Best Original Song: The Weary Kind. Though I wouldn't be shocked if Down in New Orleans wins it, either.
Best Sound Editing: Avatar. Just cause.
Best Sound Mixing: Avatar. Just cause.
Best Art Direction: Avatar. Just cause.
Best Cinematography: Avatar. Just cause.
Best Makeup: Star Trek. Love green alien chicks.
Best Costume Design: The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. Some of the best costume designs I have ever seen.
Best Film Editing: Avatar. Just cause.
Best Visual Effects: Avatar. Just cause. Ok, not really. I mean come on, over 60% of the film was created on computers alone, the other 40% was enhanced by computers.
As you can see, I kind of spread things around, except for the majority of the technical awards. I see Avatar cleaning up the technical awards easily.
