Beat me to it... I've got tickets to a women's Olympic hockey game... I had feared that I wasn't going to be able to see any events, but I lucked out with these.... 'Crappers coming from out of town--good luck getting tickets for hockey. Canada men and women's hockey tickets are in the hundreds of dollars now. Men's gold medal game? selling for over $2,500/ticket. When I went to pick mine up this AM...there was lots of curling tickets that had just come available, at $65 each... [Got my tix at basically cost ;D]

Counting the hours to my latest bi-annual taping marathon. 16 days of hoping my VCRs work on a regular basis and hoping the networks don't run too long and that Latvia will just hurry up and lose to the Czech Republic in ice hockey. Seriously though, can't want to see how Vancouver does given the weather problems they are having and hoping that everyone coming into town has a fine time. Can't wait until Friday night.

I know this may sound like I joke, but I am going to watch all the curling coverage I possibly can. I love watching the strategy involved and the skill that is required. Add Speed Skating and this is going to be a great 2+ weeks for me.

My uncle lives in Mission, BC, and has tickets to one of the hockey games. No way was he getting tickets for a Team Canada game though; you'd have to either have a lot of money or know some people to get those. It's like Belarus VS. Djibouti or whatever. (Yes, I know Djibouti likely doesn't have a hockey team...or any team for that matter... I'm just being a loser. )

No way was he getting tickets for a Team Canada game though; you'd have to either have a lot of money or know some people to get those. It's like Belarus VS. Djibouti or whatever. One of the guys who I work with was online during the ticket auctions and he said that all the Team Canada hockey tix went really fast. I got women's hockey tickets...which will allow me to have fun at an Olympic event... Most of the very wintery events are in Whistler or on the montains on the North Shore...so although they don't have lots of snow, they might be all right. They are manufacturing snow too...and I heard they had some shipped in from other parts of southern B.C. One result of all this mild weather...could be that tourists remember that Vancouver might be a nice non-frigid place to go the the winter... Ironic site for a *winter* Olympics, though, I'll admit... Nice and cold last year at this time...

Kind of too bad that all the snow in the World decided to hit the east coast this year.

I'm a huge Winter Olympics nut, so I'm looking forward to spending the next two weeks glued to my TV.

Regarding the first post on the top of the page, what is with that logo? Is this the Olympics or Burning Man? Seriously, the Olympics seem to always have the worst logos ever.

Though it's usually the snowboarding, hockey and alpine sking I look forward to the most, I've been addicted to Johnny Weir's reality show on the Sundance channel, and now I hope he gets on the podium.

Logos only get worse when we get to Sochi in four years:

Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili died after falling off his sled and hitting a pole. Terrible start to the Olympics.

There's been a lot of trouble with the track: Chris Mazdzer, Megan Sweeney, Tony Benshoof and Bengt Walden have all crashed during training.
