I stopped a long time ago, probably the start of the attitude era where I just didn't enjoy what was going on (prude little 13-14 year old, I was). started watching WCW for a bit until it fell apart.
totally out of wrestling for probably 6-7 years, then I started going to RoH shows a few years back, caught WM20, wasn't impressed so I didn't start watching. read Hart's book, and finally came back to WWF when he did in January. amazingly I was quickly watching for everything else along with his story and now am pretty hooked (hence joining here). bought the Royal Rumble, even!

Nothing has made me stop though two things have caused me less overall interest in the show.
-Late spring 2003. Raw was turning into crap with a bloated HHH dominating the title scene, all my favorites (Jericho, RVD, Booker) not doing anything of note, and overall feeling of "bleh" about the brand. Couldn't really get into Smackdown all that much, so I just paid less attention, occasionally reading results. Got back into in late fall 2003 when things finally starting picking up again.
-June 2007-August 2007. Benoit incident just really took my heart out of watching, and with Booker leaving the company (and thus losing one of my favorite characters on WWE TV) I just really stopped caring about a lot of what was going on. It was around then that I started getting into TNA.
Only the stuff of Miz and Morrison kept me interested, and it wasn't until Wrestlemania XXIV that I started getting into it again.

I couldn't really watch for a while after the Benoit thing. I followed but not closely. Jerichos return got me back into it.

Stopped watching WWE around 2003/2004, basically just as I was starting University at the time. HHH's reign of terror was in full force and the whole thing just started really going downhill. Never saw a reason to really get back into following 'E though I quite enjoy TNA and rarely miss a show, despite their flaws. Just find it more entertaining, if for no other reason, than it just being that much different from the same ol' song and dance by Vince and Co.

when hunter seemed to have the belt for 5 years straight post the invasion and the loss of austin and rock, it just got repetitive and boring

Good thread. I have been a wrestling fan(most notably WWF/E) as early as I can remember. I have always been a full-blown mark and was even a hardcore anti-smark in my early IWC days(around 2003/4) mainly due to going with the flow when it came to the on-air product.
Long after the Attitude Era, I was still a devoted fan. I even got the "You still watch that crap" from my friends who were huge fans in 1998 to 2001. I would say the earliest signs of me not enjoying the product was in 2006 with the DX reunion. Just finding grown men acting like teenagers just didn't seem funny anymore and got boring after awhile.
2007 has gotten real tiresome for me with John Cena's superman push. He came off as a wannabe Rock in his promos with a Hulk Hogan like push. Don't get me wrong, having met John Cena, I can say he was a super awesome person, but the booking was so repetitive I just could'nt suspend my disbelief. What should've been the straw that broke the camel's back was seeing those endless Hornswoggle Looney Tunes skits especially the one where he ran through the wall. And they didn't even show him do it which made it seem more pathetic. If you're going to go all cartoony GO ALL THE FREAKING WAY!!!! Use CGI graphics or something to make it look like he did it, not no two camera angle.
Even after that I still managed to watch it and went to see Wrestlemania XXIV live. It was a great experience for me. I still watched regularly up until Wrestlemania XXV. After seeing such a disapointing show, I decided not to tune in anymore. I was half watching RAW and Smackdown prior to that(I was usually on my computer while the TV was on) and I didn't realize that until after I stopped watching alltogether. So many things turned off my interest for something I use to hold so dear. The list of things are....
-Tiresome booking -Lack of kayfabe -Same guys on top -Repetitive booking -Missed oppurtunities -Watched it for so long, there's really nothing new they can do. I was basically burnt out as a fan.
My brother did invite me over for The Royal Rumble and I gladly accepted because it was my favorite pay per view. The match was well booked(I didn't care for the rest of the pay per view), but it didn't spark my interest in tuning back in. Even on the rare occasion when they put on a great show, the product still feels lifeless to me. I can just never get suckered in like I use to. When I watched the Royal Rumble, I realized in my 10 month absense of not watching, not much has changed.
Anybody feel the same way?

When Eddie passed, I quit watching for a month.
I was just deeply upset that my (then) favourite Wrestler had gone.

The whole Benoit thing really bummed me out and I didn't really stop watching completely but I definitely lost interest. Exactly the same here. I've never liked wrestling the same way since that happened.

Two incidents 1. Hogan winning the title at Wrestlemania 9. Part of it was having recently joined the Navy and not always being in a place I could watch, but mostly it just seemed like the same old sh-tuff by a guy I hated. Didn't watch for about two years after that.
2. Eddie Guerrero dying. Just sucked all the fun out of watching wrestling. Lasted about 8 months.

When The Two Man Power Trip beat The Brothers Of Destruction for the WWF, IC and tag team titles (by cheating) I think it was Judgment Day 2001? When that happened I stopped watching until 2008, I was about 14/15 at the time and was a huge Kane mark, it was just one too many heel victories for me!

I quit watching Smackdown sometime during Khali's reign with the WHC, kept up with the results and took up watching again when Edge took the belt off Batista.
I can actually tolerate Khali where he is now though.

I didn't watch much in the late eighties because my family had a broke TV that only got three channels. I didn't watch for the length of JBL's title reign. I didn't not like JBL at all, and I didn't want to see him with the belt. I didn't watch after the Benoit and Guerrero deaths. I stooped watching TNA after the first week Hogan and friends came back.
