He RKO's a defenseless woman. Threatened people careers by kicking them in the head severely enough to give them concussions. He turned on Cody and Ted for doing exactly what he would have done.

Probably because hes so damn good at what he does, and because he has an awesome finisher I know that hes certainly my favorite wrestler in wwe atm, right above Punk. And its because his character is so... unique and well done. Hes perfect at playing the role that he does.

I always thought it'd be Cena that followed Austins footsteps, and despite an arguement can be made he is by being the focal point of the company, in terms of in-ring and character, it's Orton..
Anyway. People have been patiently waiting to cheer for him...Myself being one. Though I've been cheering.

Well, if you don't cheer for him, he might do the same thing to you. It's the Stockholm Syndrome, my friend. Also, he hears voices. Reference my sig.

This. Variety is awesome. We have Superman in Cena, why can't we have Batman in Orton? And no, Triple H isn't Batman, if anything he's Iron Man or Thor.

His beatings don't cross the moral event horizon because "the Viper" is such a ridiculous and cartoony character and everything is so telegraphed. Its like cheering for Skeletor or Snidely Whiplash rather than an actual violent sociopath.

They've been hinting at a Legacy breakup for a while, and Orton has been getting sporadic face cheers here and there. My favorite one was from Backlash 2009 where Triple H left on a stretch. Personally, I think that was from those who felt that the WrestleMania match ended with the wrong guy winning.
If they do the turn, hopefully it won't be like in late 2004, and just focus on keeping Orton as he is: an opportunistic viper, but his focuses will be on guys like Sheamus and Batista (of course, those things are more or less because people like seeing the guys Orton goes after get hit).

Yeah, legacy should be the faces. Theyve taken ortons crap long enough and now theyre their own men. It would be like if dibiase was the face during the virgil/dibiase feud.

I think the fact that he telegraphs his moves actually makes people cheer for/anticipate them. He's a (supposed) heel who has certain facelike qualities in his ring work. Besides, who wants to cheer for Dibiase?

You can't really control who the crowd cheers for. If they were screaming for Orton, cheering for Orton, and then you have DiBiase as the face...that just makes Ted looks pathetic and the crowd wouldn't buy it.

Well the fans did pop for Rhodes and DiBiase last year but WWE never ran with it. Now they've turned Orton, I'm guessing on the reactions he got against Sheamus * Shrugs*
Personally I've always liked Orton anyway so its not a problem for me, as long as they don't change his character too much which so far they haven't.

For me it's been covered by other posters already, he has a kick arse character, he doesn't take any guff (/Nelson) off anyone and he's a bad ass for the most part. He's an interesting character who doesn't insult the fans or (in booking terms) go for faces/heels specifically anymore. He's pretty much a tweener who happens to side with the heel side of his persona more often than not.
That and Ted is the guy we're supposed to be cheering, he's the lesser man of Legacy. I'd be willing to cheer a bit for Rhodes but Ted is just dull, and the attempt to turn him face so far isn't working because the man himself isn't that charismatic, isn't that good a wrestler, and just doesn't have what it takes to be cheered right now. You could blame booking but given how the breakup had been played for months I don't see how it's anybody's fault other than his at this stage.

If it makes you guys feel better, I still cant stand him. Hes nowhere close to Austin in terms of charisma. All he can do is gesticulate wildly when he throws a fit and and be generally creepy.
