I'm glad it's no DQ... I was wondering how they were gonna avoid having the same match as last year.
I'm excited about it but I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to wrestlers I like.

I'm confused. Are you implying you're worried about the quality of the match?

The only problem for me is who to support. I like Taker and I don't want to see his streak end. I like HBK and I don't want to see him gone (even if he'll probably come back anyway). So by that logic Id want Taker to win. But HBK has been so much more interesting in this feud.
I'm confused on who to support basically so I'm just hoping for a great match.

I too am not really interested.
1) The booking is decent but...well we saw MIchaels/'Taker in their post-peak prime (or so we're led to believe in kayfabe terms) at last years WM and 'Taker won cleanly, having taken the best of what HBK threw at him.
2) Match wise I worry as I don't doubt that it will be good, but 'Taker can hardly walk, it's not going to be anywhere near as good as last years match.
3) What made their last match special was the fact they hadn't wrestled since their awesome feud in the mid-90s. If I comine point 1 and this then it's just why bother? Any stipulation will not add credibility, if Michael's wins heel wise (which he would be if he took the streak) I won't really care as it won't be clean and he's said so many times he doesn't want to be a heel anyway.
I am a fan of Michaels and bored with 'Taker at this stage but I really don't want to see a lesser gimmick match after last years 5 star encounter.

No DQ = Bret Hart costing HBK his career

When I think back, I realize that a lot of the feuds I like have had more than one match involved in them. It's not typical to have a feud that only consists of one match. In the case of HBK and Taker, I'm not in the least bit worried about their ability to have two good matches that are significantly different from one another. Maybe that's why I'm excited about the match... because I don't think either one is such a weak talent that they can only wrestle one kind of match and then they're out of ideas. They've laid the groundwork for the style of this match to be very different, with the no DQ stipulation and the differences in the attitudes of the characters going in. Last year, nearly everyone said the match couldn't live up to the hype. When the match aired, nearly everyone was stunned and thrilled at how they exceeded expectations. I'm not going to doubt them this year when they've already proven to me that they can deliver. This isn't a match about heaven and hell, light and darkness, two polar opposites and the need to know who's better. No, now it's about two professionals who have been in the ring together one year prior, know exactly how dangerously good the other is, and are daring enough and addicted enough to the glory of victory to put up the things that matter most to them, knowing that only one is going to walk away the winner. For one, it's about erasing the shame of loss and giving the dark cloud of his failure to the one who beat him. For the other, it's about ridding himself once and for all of the one man who has the ability to take his undefeated streak away from him. That's a very different match. And I'm very excited to see it.

I feel the same way. I don't understand why Michaels is so obsessed . . . a year later . . . after goofing around with DX and seemingly not caring about his loss at all.
Also, Taker's not the wrestler he was a year ago. It sounds weird, but I'd rather have them put on that single perfect, brilliant match than have another one that cannot possibly match it.
I also think that, if anyone needs to retire, it's Taker and not Michaels.

It already happened, HBK will lose no doubt, sad and angry HBK is really boring me , their fued last year didn't need the stupid career stipulation to be epic.
I turned it to Impact! during their segment. Not because I don't like the guys (I did love their match and I will watch it again despite not liking the segments) but it isn't fun. Last year Shawn kicked 'Taker like three times and was all cocky which is the HBK I remember. But now the biggest thing going in is HBK returning 'Takers insults with "No you!" and leaving. I don't want his last match to be him acting depressed.

Do you like ANYTHING? No offense but I've never seen you post a positive comment. Let's see... I love Zack Ryder, Christian winning Money in the Bank is going to make me mark out, I am happy with the Money in the Bank line-up aside from MVP, Batista / Cena is shaping up to be the best Mania main event in years, despite preferring Punk as a face he is still one hell of a heel, The Miz is the best thing in wrestling today and has actually made me a Big Show fan in the process, Morrison and Truth have natural chemistry as a team and would be worthy tag champions, I love NXT and particularly Bryan and Barrett, I would have loved if they had kept with that idea of a tag match where Bret wins the title even as someone who's not so much a Hart fan, Triple H / Sheamus is a good feud so far and should make for a great match, and if done right this MVPush for McIntyre could actually make people care about him. I think that about sums up everything going on in WWE at the moment I like. Hmm. Alright then.

All I can say is that I completely agree with the OP.
I also really don't want either thing to happen. The streak ending just upsets me, and the thought of HBK's career being over makes me want to cry. I don't know who to support, so I'm not supporting anybody.
I just don't think that this match is going to deliver, either.

eJmI'm confused. Are you implying you're worried about the quality of the match? Taker took the time off because he needed surgery on his knees. He comes back and he isn't the guy he was at WrestleMania. Yeah, his match against Mysterio at the Rumble was VERY good but that was mostly due to Rey and less to do with Taker. So yeah, I'm worried it won't live up to the match at 'Mania because Taker isn't in the shape he was at Mania. The No DQ stip kind of adds that suspicion to me.

This HBK-Taker thing is boring me to tears. On TNA, When Sting returned and did what he did the crowd was all into it. I turn to Raw and the fans are taking a nap during Takers-HBK's promo. First you state your opinion. Then you try to put it over as fact. Rewatch the segment tonight again. The fans were into that segment with Taker and Michaels like crazy. They were listening intently and reacted at the exact moments they were supposed to. Taker and Michaels had them in the palm of their hands. As secondly, why the hell are you trying to compare that to anything in TNA? I shouldn't feed the trolls, but what the hell.... The fans in the Impact zone are a bunch of old school ECW wannabes losers. They chant "This is Awesome" at nearly anything. They once chanted "You've Still Got It" at an slow, overweight, and crappy Jim Neidhart. You try to use the Impact zone crowd to make a point, however the Impact zone crowd has no credibility at all. Troll? Son you have no idea what your talking about. I'm a TNA and WWE fan. Seems to me your a TNA hater and used my post and me to bash TNA. The fans were not into the Taker-HBK promo as much you proclaim. I wasn't making a overall impact crowd vs Raw crowd. Just those 2 segments that were on at the sametime. Now on to more important things, Something just isn't clicking with this years build up unlike last years. I just can't put my finger on it.

when this is the match of the night (and then again when it is match of the year) i hope someone bumps this thread.... Hell, I didn't actually want to see it last year even in knowing it'd potentially be match of the year. Match quality isn't everything. Plus, you know, Undertaker is still borderline immobile. I've seen every PPV since SummerSlam and I don't think I've seen a single match of his I've liked, which is a shame since Taker was always one of my favorites growing up.

when this is the match of the night (and then again when it is match of the year) i hope someone bumps this thread.... Why? If it becomes Match of the Night, great. If it becomes Match of the Year, great. What does that have anything to do with me not caring about seeing it when, in all honesty, I should be excited like most people are?

I don't understand how people can't be excited for this match. Of all the matches on this show, this is the one that makes me happy to be spending my money for WM which I order every year regardless of what matches are on the show. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
