I'll be the one to come out and say I agree. I've never seen where Jericho was anywhere near as great as the IWC hypes him to be. I will give him credit: Jericho is a marvelous all round performer. He is solid in the ring, solid on the mic, knows how to work the crowd. But I never saw him as anywhere near on the scale of Austin or The Rock, and I even got tired of those two after a while. I'll probably get flamed to infinity for saying this, but I have long thought a huge reason Jericho is much loved by the IWC was because he seemed like the most obvious victim of the Triple H "reign of terror" as another thread dubbed it. I will agree that Jericho deserved a good run with the title. However, everyone screamed then (and some still do now) that Triple H deliberately held Jericho down out of insecurity and/or jealousy of his talent. Much like the rest of America, the IWC loves an underdog story. And that scenario makes Jericho out to be the underdog. And I'm also going to risk the flaming and come right out and say it: if Jericho had a "reign of terror" style run where he plowed over everyone on the roster and never lost, eventually people would get bored with that and rant against him as well. Your last paragraph makes no sense. Wouldn't it be a GOOD thing if people hated a Jericho "reign of terror"? It would show that not everyone's biased towards him just because he's Chris Jericho.

See, if this was say... The Miz, that was getting the beer bottles thrown at him, it would be "X-Pac heat", I just think the internet is pretty biased when it comes to Chris Jericho. Just my opinion, I'm not doubting the man's ability, he is a fantastic wrestler, but I wouldn't say he's the best in the WWE today. I care about alot more than the matches, his current "schtick" is boring me. The Miz has been getting some pretty good heat too. And yes, if Miz was getting beer bottles thrown at him, he would be another one of the top heels. I feel CM Punk is the number 2 heel, as he has yet to have been threatened with violence. A guy who is stale is someone the crowd doesn't care about. If you care enough to attack the guy or throw things at him, then he must be doing something right.

As a worker, he's absolutely overrated. His striking offense is beyond ridiculous. He throws his forearms from about half a foot farther back than he should and he barely looks like he's making contact. There are times when he's on offense that he looks sloppy - he lacks the fluidity of other guys who work that mat/striking style. What he was in Japan and what he is now are not the same things, and nobody ever talks about it like they talk about Rey. His 4 star matches are fewer and farther between, and he's wrestling more top carders these days than he has done in the past.
He's always had troubles staying over and staying credible at the same time. When he was the comedic face, he wasn't remotely credible in the ME and when he was the sullen heel, he came off as a minor leaguer compared to Rock, Austin and Angle.
Now he's constantly got heat: But let's be honest, he's doing it by insulting the crowd with the same promo over and over again. It's really no different in my mind than Foley figuring out the "cheap pop" after years of off-and-on adoration and indifference in the WWF, only with Jericho it's cheap heat.
That sounds like I'm beating up on the guy, I know, but I'm really not. He is talented, he is a good worker, he is a good talker, and he has managed to find a way to stay credible. That's more than most guys can do. But people talk as though he's Jesus in the WWE, and he gets more MVP votes than anyone, but I don't see that either. The great angles follow HBK around, Jericho is treading water well.

I don't think Jericho is overrated, he is one of the best, maybe THE best they have right now. What some may consider to be "star power" or not. He's awesome at what he does, like others have said.

Because Jericho has "workrate", amirite? I prefer to watch Sheamus at the moment. He's fresh. My point is with Chris Jericho, he cuts the same promo every week. His character isn't stale, it's his "schtick". He comes out and calls us hypocrites every week, it's getting boring. And I believe that if it was anybody other than him, you would all agree. How the hell is Sheamus "fresh"? What exactly does his character contribute, other than random run-ins and spiky hair? For a long time Orton was a boring run-in machine too but he at least invented the "Viper" mannerisms and ran with them. I have yet to see Sheamus ACT in an interesting manner in the ring rather than just DO things. All that Lameus is good for, at best, is to be stuck in the Umaga/Yokozuna position his entire career. And even then Umaga's mannerisms were far more entertaining than anything Sheamus has done. Unique look, a good moveset, a fresh main eventer and is comfortable on the mic. You may hate him because he's Triple H's "butt-buddy", but I couldn't care less. If he's Triple H's buddy, good for him. IIRC, this whole thing started when Triple H said that he had potential and that he worked out with him. Ever since he got the push, that's all I've been hearing... Triple H this, Triple H that. Maybe just maybe, Sheamus is a good wrestler with an impressive work-ethic who wrestled all around the world? Nah, it can't be that. Triple H likes him, he must have pulled some strings . And yes, the internet and the world in general, love a good underdog. That's why most of the IWC's favourite wrestlers are Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, RVD etc. They're all smaller guys who never got to "carry" the company. If that make sense, there's nothing wrong with it. I enjoy watching all of those guys, but I notice the pattern here. The IWC hates the guys that WWE force-feed us like Triple H, John Cena and Batista. We all like the guys like Christian, small guys who have "workrate" and should be given a better push. And when they finally listen to the internet and give them that push, we turn on them. I'm referring to most of the IWC, I realize not everybody likes the same wrestlers.

Sheamus is a terrible heel, and doesn't deserve to curtain jerk let alone get mentioned in the same breath as Jericho. If anything, Jericho is UNDERRATED, considering that what parts of the guest GM gimmick that are actually watchable are largely due to his work. I agree with differentiating between his schtick and his character, the individual promos are often boring but they make him a great character. His pompous attitude always sets him up for a fall and the crowd always seem to enjoy his comeuppance. I'm a big fan of Jericho but enjoy it when DX embarrass him or when Stephanie made him get on his knees.
