personally I liked Juno...I thought the story was decent and most of the acting was good...plus with the whole pregnancy fetish the movie is basically porn with a great story but no nudity for me So we're broadcasting our fetishes now? When the hell did that happen?

Has anyone that bashes the dialog ever been around teenage girls that fancy themselves as hipsters? They make up stupid words and stuff like that all the time, I don't think anyone actually talks like Juno but they talk in a similar way and the spirit of it is perfect in the movie. Dude, I'm a linguist. I've done research projects on everything from Valley Girl dialects to the generational differences in teenage slang. NOBODY on Earth talks like people in this movie. It's hyper polished crap. As a linguist, who talks like anyone in a mainstream movie about teenagers or high school? I never had a problem with Juno's dialog because I find the dialog in most teen movies and TV shows to be over polished, crappy, and contrived. Weather it's hyper slang or Mary-Sue Bull-ish. Clueless is one of my favorite movies, but a voice in my head says who talks like this every time I watch it. I like Juno. I found the movie refreshing because it wasn't as melodramatic as other movies or shows about teen pregnancy. That lack of melodrama makes Jumo's portrayal of teen pregnancy more realist to me.

I thought the same way about Bring It On's dialogue. Juno sounds at least 10x worse.

It gives a completely disturbingly inaccurate depiction of how mothers handle the adoption process.
Women go through hormonal changes during pregnancy that make giving a baby up for adoption one of the most traumatic and painful things they ever go through. Juno's "whatever" attitude bothered me so much that the movie just couldn't be enjoyable.

I liked it. I thought it was funny, and I've been out of high school for years. Some of the dialogue was annoying, but they are supposed to be teenagers. I wasn't expecting anything else really. I think this movie like so many other get a few people who start to hate then everyone just follows along.

To be honest, I didn't even know there was this much hate for Juno. When did this hate occur anyway? For me, I liked it. It was a fresh take on something rarely touched upon cinema. Still, I find it funny that it was directed by the son of the guy who directed Junior.

I kept waiting for Vern Schillinger to rape someone. But sadly, it never happened.

Hey; it turns out that being pregnant is no big deal, kids. You can make snarky, wise-ass comments about it and there are no problems whatsoever. Your parents won't kill you- they'll just make more wiseass jokey comments.
Yeah; great message to teach teens...

It's better than the overdramatic scared straight message that made me an aunt 15 years before my time.

EDIT: Also, what is it with this fascination that teen pregnancies automatically have to lead to furious, spiteful parents? Maybe I'm in the minority here, but back when my parents gave me the whole birds and bees spiel, they were adamant about saying that, were I ever to find myself in a situation where there was an unwanted/unplanned/etc. pregnancy and I was still a kid, they'd be completely supportive and help as best they can to take care of the baby. I highly doubt I'm alone on that one. What's so inaccurate about that?

I thought it was a decent good movie but the over hype was very annoying to me. Iv seen other small teen films that were better than Juno but didnt get the same press so that was annoying to me also.

You could just watch them and form an unbiased opinion now if you wanted, just a thought. I can't; I'm a contrarian by nature. If something that I'm not especially high on his presented to me in a way where I feel it's being shoved down my throat, I develop an irreverent hostility to it until it ceases to be relevant or becomes good to the point where I feel it lives up to the hype. But I know better and try to restrain myself from being like that. So what's the best plan of action? Restrict the flow of things. People won't be coming up to me in a year or two and constantly telling me how great Juno or Avatar is, so if I don't like them, I won't become angry that people forced something on to me since that obviously can't become the case. Moreover, if I do like them, I can truly like them for exactly what they're worth. You're legit crazy

Because it isn't funny and makes it look cool to get knocked up as a teenager.
