So I'm at work and get a call from my gf who informs me our snake has somehow managed to escape from a closed fiv (?). She had a search for him in the room before she headed to work but no joy, so at present we've got a snake loose in our house.
On the off chance that this has happened to anybody here, any advice? :/

How big is it? Since it's a pet, I assume it's not too large so be sure to look under everything and check if it got into the vents.

No, it's not too big, 4 foot so chances are he's just found himself a warm spot elsewhere in the room. The damned thing is, I went to the kitchen this morning and our ferret had managed to escape too but we found him in our laundry bag.

Mine got out once while I was in rehab and my roomate was taking care of him. He never left my room though and my roomate didn't even tell me about it. I'd check under and behind any dressers you may have or under or behind the fridge. Whenever I let my rats out they try to climb in the snakes cage and when I take my snake out he tries to climb in the rats' cage.

I have a small piece of advice: Don't own an animal that is concentrated evil, which is what snakes are.
(Just to clarify: No, I am not meaning this in any religious way. I just really hate snakes.)

Check your bank records. Don't trust a snake. He was probably sneaking out to order a wife.
I have a yellow bellied slider, but turtles aren't exactly escape artists.

Tell your girlfriend not to listen to what the snake says. And no matter what, don't let her eat from that apple tree. They're..uh...all wormy.
Don't eat them!

Happened to a friend of mine a few times. The first time, I just happened to see it slither under the table while I was sitting down so I said. "There it is!"
I wasn't there the other times but they said they just put a frozen rat on the floor and waited. (Mind you the snake already ate frozen rats) They figured it would get hungry eventually. So they only put on the rat at time they were home and could watch it.
But I don't think that would work if your snake is used to live food.

Where Tom M. Riddle (I'm hardcore) found a large constrictor that was also venomous is a very good question.
