And I'm confused about the opening sequence.
Was Vanessa a Fembot all along? It can't be since you see her speaking to her mother in the first film. So there was a real Vanessa who was replaced with a Fembot at somepoint. But Austin's reaction and his conversation with Basil hints at the former.
I never got that.

I tend to not think about stuff too much in the Austin Powers series. Besides, it was just a spoof on On Her Majesty's Secret Service's twist ending, and the entire Bond series in general, on having different women in each movie. Nothing else, nothing more.
While we're on the subject of this movie though, I may have to call this the funniest movie i've seen in a theater. Absolutely hysterical.

Well, there's a perfectly logical explanation for that plot development in Austin Powers 2.....
...and that explanation is just shut up and stare at Heather Graham.

Yeah you're not the only person confused by it however I can explain it very simply Liz Hurley wasn't very good an actress (Though after repeated viewings of the 1st one I got used to her) Plus the film is hilarious

I think it was one of those things that weren't suppose to make sense. I don't think they even intended to make a sequel to the first one so they just had to come up with something that was so absurd and funny that people didn't care. Austin- I'm single again!!!! lol ;D Austin Powers 2 like some other sequels are one of those rare ones where I think it is better than the original although the original is also good. The 3rd one absolutely sucked though.

I agree with you. I mean you'd think a movie about an unfrozen Superspy who fights robots and super villians would fill plot holes like that.

The 3rd one absolutely sucked though. This is a picture of Michael Caine being a pimp. Your argument is invalid.

Definitely agree with those who think the second is better than the first. And yeah, that first scene always bugged me too, but it's best not to try to think too hard when this movie is involved

The third one had some good stuff, Fat Bastard in Japan, the meeting with Mr. Roboto, Michael Caine.
Cut out Beyonce and Goldmember and put in more Scott turning Evil and you have a good movie.

Gotta say, this is my least favourite of the three films, mainly because Heather Graham isn't remotely interesting.

I've been meaning to write about this for a long time just to get it off my chest. My mother really enjoyed the first Austin Powers and that is saying something because she really wasn't a movie person. Stevie Wonder has seen more movies than my mother. In short, the first flick was important to us because it is one of the few movies that we all enjoyed together. We also weren't the sanest family in the apartment complex and my mother and I didn't get along that well. So the second Austin Powers is being released and we're really anticipating it and I have a good feeling about it. My mother can't wait to see it and I can't recall a single film she was looking forward to seeing. Long story short. The entire theater is disappointed by the film. Not everyone laughed at the same joke and few people laughed at all. My mother, father and I left the theater feeling like we just went through a ringer of unfunny, disgusting, juvenile humor. I felt so humiliated by that movie. It is the single most disappointing film-going experience of my life. A year later my mother dies in a car accident.

I liked all 3 as well, but part 4 was crap. There were only three movies. Personally, I liked the 2nd one the most, followed by the 1st one, and then the 3rd one. And I most definitely approve of Heather Graham in any capacity.
