That is a great story...wtg, Sheamus. ;D
Back in my day though, they would've just left his little ass crying.

Six? Thats really young to be doing something that can shape a kid's impression of wrestling. I don't care if he 'loses heat' for what he did after, this kid was six, not ten. A few years make a huge difference. I would think ripping up my sign was AWESOME if i was an older kid, but at six, some guy ripping up something I'd worked on and wanted to show my favourite wrestler? That'd be terrible.

I love seeing stories like this. (Not the kid cryng, mind you)
I remember seeing a video of DX bringing in a mentally challenged man into the ring with them at a house show

I think it might also be lack of experience, because most heels probably would enjoy having the kid cry, like Jericho or someone. But hey, it's not like Sheamus in character felt bad, he was just getting security and Cena to do a few things, so he not only wanted the fan to feel better, but to have the fan continue to hate him. Man, I wish I could go to more house shows. House shows are always better then tv.

I understand your point. The simple answer is that house shows tend to be more for fun. The roster will mess around quite a bit and do things they wouldn't do on tv. A great example is Owen Hart in a tag match. He was in either a boston crab or a sharpshooter and was acting like he was smoking a cigarette. Everyone in the match was trying not to laugh. He screwed around the whole the time in the match and everyone involved enjoyed it. Reminded of that thing that is said to have happened at one house show where Edge teamed with Umaga in the main-event and came out with his face painted and with Canada on his stomach. And, for that matter, of the one time I went to a house show, also involving Edge - main event was Edge and MVP against Undertaker and Kane. Like the first ten minutes of the match consisted of Edge and MVP arguing, running all over the place, repeatedly tagging each other in and out - it was great. Then it got weird when Taker was the one who played face in peril. Their was another one when Edge teamed with Cade & Murdoch and came to the ring with Murdochs trunks over his for no apparent reason. Complete Madness!

How can this post get no sold? Bravo on that. Anyway, it was nice of him to get security to cheer the kid up, but it also breaks kayfabe of having a heel do something nice. He should've just had Cena squash him really bad or something to maintain his heel heat.

Big ups to Sheamus! It's a shame to say I made ya sad. Don't be so upset, I'm not that bad! You can treat this arm band like it's some kind of prize. Please do not cry! Please do not cry! And big ups to this. Just imagine if it was Randy Orton, that kid would've at best been consoled by some used gum.

In all fairness, Sheamus is actually a REALLY nice guy who cares about the fans. I just met him at the airport a few minutes ago where he was running late for a flight, but he still signed autographs for all of us, asking each of us our name to personalize them, & talk with us.
He cares for the fans, damn it!

I remember at my first house show in 1992, LOD got a couple of kids out of the audience after their match with the Beverley Bros. and walked around the ring with the kids riding on their shoulders. I thought that was cool of them to do.

Someone find that video from Japan of the girl crying and Tajiri and his opponent trying to cheer her up.

Great heel move followed up by smart thinking. He wanted the kid to hate him, but he didn't want to break kayfabe when he saw that the kid was seriously upset. He got security & Cena to make the kid feel better for him. Sheamus keeps his heat and that kid is now a Cena fan for life.

You know, Sheamus has been growing on me lately, and now with this little development, I can't boo the guy anymore.
Plus, the Celtic Cross (Razor's Edge) is a badass finisher. I've been hoping someone would use it sooner or later.
