Being the greatest American born professional wrestler of all time....
But, back in the 90s he was a crybaby who lost a lot of belts without putting anyone over in the process.

Nope, sorry, in between this, Hogans record of politicking in WCW, not to mention his supposed torn meniscus when it was suggested that Orton beats him, Im tired of Hogan believing he is that good. It's the same old shtick every time. HBK wanted one win both ways. I fail to see what was so hard for Hogan about that. The guy believes his own hype too much. Who on Earth is Michaels to complain about politicking? After his actions at SummerSlam, I'm not surprised Hogan didn't do anything else with him. I don't care about backstage, when you go out in the ring, you try to make everyone look good, not throw a temper tantrum. I wouldn't expect it from a main eventer... well OK, I would expect it from Michaels really considering his history of throwing his toys out of the pram.

Couple things dav...
Hogan had already said he would not do another match with Shawn after Summerslam, and that is WHY Shawn did what he did. And why he cut the promo on him the next night.
Shawn was willing to put Hogan over, Hogan was not willing to do the same, I don't know how its hard to see who is in the wrong here. And for the "temper tantrum" some would still call it the best match hogan had in a DECADE.

You don't go out there and make a mockery of the entire thing simply because the biggest icon in the industry won't job to you. Also, like I said, Michaels is among the last person to complain about politicking with a straight face. Hogan went out there and did his job, Michaels went out there and screwed around for the sake of his ego.

It's either bias against Hogan (most likely) or lack of common sense (I hope not). I agree with Dav on this one. Not getting a win back didn't give Shawn the right to make a mockery out of a match that a lot of people paid to see (it drew a pretty big buyrate IIRC). It was unprofessional and childish. His promo the next night cemented it. Hogan went out there and did his job. When Hogan jobbed to Warrior, Goldberg, Luger, Piper, Rock, Lesnar, etc, you never saw him sabotage the matches. He did the job and that was that. You don't bring the backstage crap on TV. Michaels was in the wrong, and if many of you seriously don't believe he was, then all I can do is wish you the best of luck when you go out in the real world. That crap doesn't fly in the corporate world. If Shawn wasn't a big star, he probably would have gotten more flack for that. Instead to appease his own ego he was allowed to cry the next night on Raw about it. Yeah, he stuck it to Hogan alright!! Hulk got a huge payday and a win, while Shawn got to appease his ego and 5% of the audience that wasn't chanting Hogan's name when Shawn was crying about having to job. I'm sure Hulk lost sleep over it. And yes, the irony of Michaels being upset about someone else not jobbing is hilarious. Maybe Hulk should have went in the middle of the ring, cried, handed over his contract, and hugged Vince goodbye as Tell Me a Lie played in the subsequent weeks to explain Hogan's absence. You know, the way a real man handles those things. As far as best match of the decade for Hogan, are you forgetting Hogan/Rock and Hogan/Vince?

Shawn Michaels was totally justified in doing what he did. +1 Shawn was doing business. Hogan clearly wasn't. And despite anything any Hogan partisan claims, most everyone says it was the best possible match anyone could have expected out of a broken down old man like Hogan. Shawn carried him and made him look better than he had any right to look. How that is unprofessional is beyond me. I didn't see any fans in the arena booing. They all enjoyed it. This smarky inside baseball talk about Shawn humiliating him is just static. Point to audience reaction where anyone felt they were not getting their money's worth. Shawn made Hogan look stupid to the boy's in the back and smarks while also entertaining the crowd with a great match. It was art.

No offense to anyone here, but are you listening (or in this case reading) to yourself? How in the world can anyone justify what Michaels did? It has nothing to do with Shawn's history or Hulk's history. You DON'T bring backstage stuff to the ring and you don't try to sabotage the company you work for in a selfish effort to promote yourself. I work for a big company and my best friend in the company is an HR rep. She has to deal with complaints as (pardon the bluntness) stupid as this everyday. People have no legal or ethical ground to stand on but still try to shove a load of BS into her office and try to have something done about it. I sincerely hope many of you do not believe what you are typing. It's scary. I guess since my coworker is a brown noser I will hack into his PC and go on porn sites. It's wrong and unethical, but hey, he's a brown noser! He deserves it! / Wrestlecrap logic.

Also like to add that Undertaker went on Off the Record a few years back and confirmed the "Shawn didn't want to job to Austin at WM 14" story. So I guess if Taker starts flopping around like a fish out of water at WM this year after the superkick, it will be justified.

It's wrong and unethical, but hey, he's a brown noser! He deserves it! / Wrestlecrap logic. Point to instances in the match where Shawn took the crowd of it. Illustrate examples where the crowd was not into the match. While your at it point to places in the match where Shawn didn't work his butt off to make a nearly immobile Hogan look good. The fact is that in the ring, for the paying audience, Shawn worked a great match with a block of wood. No one chanted "Boring!" The crowd was eating out of Shawn's hand. Since Shawn's job is to make the audience happy he succeeded and was professional. Now...did he also make a point to smarks and the boys in the back? He did, but that was completely and totally separate from the job he did in the ring which no one questions as excellent. Jericho said it on Shawn's DVD. It was one of the best matches Hogan ever had. EVER. Further, it wasn't unprofessional because it isn't like Shawn hurt Hogan's ability to do business. Hogan went over. Hogan got the exact storyline he wanted. Hogan barely worked in promotion of the angle's build. Hogan also got out of working with Shawn again. So how is Shawn unprofessional for jobbing and making a great match out of a potential disaster? Do you seriously suggest Shawn was unprofessional because a few smarks and the boys in the back knew Shawn was taking the piss out of Hogan?

Seriously there is no way you can state that Hogan didn't deserve every bit of what Michaels gave him. If you ever meet Bret Hart; ask him what he thought about Wrestlemania 9.

Why can't the answer to the Shawn/Hogan debate be D) All of the above?
I mean, call me crazy here, but the way I see it:
A) Hogan DID get what was coming to him for all the years HE politicked and campaigned backstage BUT; B)Shawn was wrong for doing what he did since it really honestly DID expose the business AND; C)Both men are (or have been) insufferable egomaniacs and neither has room to complain about the other's "politics".
Also, I must point out that Shawn is not the first to totally (and hilariously) oversell for Hogan. Watch the SNME Collection and the matches Hogan has with Mr. Perfect and the Genius. BOTH Hennig and The Genius flip and flop and spin circles for damn near every move. Hell at one point, Hennig flies ten feet into the ring post while spinning in a circle from a Hogan clothesline!
Doesn't excuse what Shawn did, but it does give a bit of historical hindsight into the whole thing.

Using politics to ruin the country's only viable wrestling promotion.
Super-repetitive matches.
The worst main event in WrestleMania history.
Sticking a national flag down his pants.
Leaving wrestling far worse than it was when he started, in large part due to his career.

Well to respond to previous posts I will start off with Hennig's overselling. I seriously doubt he was trying to sabatoge the match, infact I am sure Hennig was just happy to be main eventing with Hogan and making lots of money. Hogan was booked like a superman and Hennig did do the spin from a clothesline in other matches.
As far as Shawn's match with Hogan and his tantrum. Micheals got out politicked and he threw a fit. Hogan was the puppet master in WCW for a reason and seems to have quite a bit of pull in TNA as well. Micheals politicked alot in 96/97, but only got away with it because Vince had a hard on for Shawn that would outlast one created by 12 pills of Viagra, that combined with Vince losing most of his top stars. Nonetheless Micheals has obviously gotten better, atleast nowadays he will put other wrestlers and doesn't bring their personal lives and backstage situations up on air. But with Hogan we got to see the old Shawn come out and play and this time he didn't get to win.
