Just what the hell is the Armstrong curse? I've heard it mentioned several times, but I have no idea just what it is. Just what makes the Armstrongs cursed?

Of all the wrestling families, I would consider them the LEAST cursed. All had long careers, all are alive, and with the exception of Road Dog who likes the wacky tobacky, they're probably drug free.

Only Road Dogg was able to break the curse. But since he wasn't billed as a "Armstrong", they are still cursed.

Yeah, from all I've seen, heard and read the Armstrongs seem to be the most well-balanced and non-dysfunctional wrestling family there is.

It was an angle in WCW. The Armstrongs were known at the time for jobbing. It was Brad Armstrongs angle where he was on a losing streak. Thats where it came from

It all started when someone pulled their brother Stretch too far.

When you look at their family and compare it to almost any other wrestling family.....they are the least cursed of all of them.

I thought it was a reference to something I think Cornette said.
Each of the sons got something from Bullet Bob but none of them got the package deal.
Like Road Dogg got the charisma but not the in ring skills.
etc. etc.

It was just something the WCW announcers would say anytime Brad Armstrong would wrestle. I think Zbyszko is the one who came up with it since Brad was pretty much a jobber to the stars.

The whole family has had long, and in their own right, successful careers.
Everyone who watched wrestling during the 70's and 80's knows Bob Armstrong in the southeast.
Steve Armstrong had a nice run in WCW with Tracy Smothers as the Southern Boys and later Young Pistols. Also a brief WWF run as Lance Cassidy.
Scott Armstrong was a solid worker, just too small. He got a chance to shine as a wrestler in Smoky Mountain, both as himself for a brief time, and as Dixie Dynamite under a mask. Now he's making solid money as a WWE referee.
Brad Armstrong, even though he was never a main event level wrestler, was always respected by his peers, and was employed by WCW for years. Nobody can say he didn't have a successful career as a pro wrestler. He didn't become a millionaire, but he was successful, and talented.
And of course Road Dogg/BG James/Brian Armstrong had the most success of the entire family, in both WWE and then TNA.
The Armstrong family are all alive, and all had good runs in the business. I call them one of the most successful families in pro wrestling during the past 30 years.
One of Brad's best:

Actually Brad admitted to losing his job in WCW in the early 90s to a failed drug test, so he has done his fair bit of recreational drugs

I probably should have been clearer with my question: I wasn't referring to an actual curse, like with the Von Erichs, but rather a WCW angle, which incidentally did get answered.

Kayfabe? They could never win anything, outside of Bullet Bob. In kayfabe, Road Dogg isn't an Armstrong He is sort of like a "secret" one where the secret isn't protected much. Think kind of like Goldust as he relates to Cody and Dusty. After all, at the very least, in one of the games or on TV, I could of swore they called Road Dogg's Pumphandle Drop the "Stretch Armstrong".

Yeah, but he's still not an Armstrong kayfabe wise, in the same sicne that Lawler and Honky Donkey Man arne't related in kayfabe. I remember once Lawler was praising the Honkster, and JR said "What is he, your cousin?" Didn't they do an angle in TNA where Road Dogg pretty much admitted that "Bullet" Bob Armstrong was his dad, and that led to the "Arm Wrestling in a Cage" at one of the PPV's?

Road Dogg was in WCW?
You sure you don't mean Buzzkill?
I could be wrong though. I didn't watch WCW at the end.

Brad was a pretty awesome worker. Early in his career, he got great pushes in Georgia, Mid South, Mid-Atlantic, Continental (obviously, since that's where he and his father worked on top the most). After the 80s, he kinda grew out of being the young babyface that he was always booked as and just settled in as a solid utility guy...then jobber.
Like those guys they call "actor's actors" in Hollywood, always felt that Brad Armstrong was a wrestler's wrestler. Always thought it was a testament to his talent that WCW kept him around for so long even though they had rarely had any ideas for him. Just a guy they felt very comfortable sending out to have a good match with anybody.
