All of 4 of these guys came in about the same time, or at least started becoming popular around the same time...
Its quite stunning when you consider that Jeff, Edge, and Christian have all had at least some successes in the singles dept, yet Matt hasn't done anything in those same respects.
If you're the booker, do you bother pushing Matt? Is he a lost cause? Its amazing to me he's been in the business 17 years.

Matt is more over than half the mid-card. If they booked him in a good solid feud that ended with him winning triumphantly, they'd have a megastar on their hands without him even needing to be able to talk.
Maybe, I'm just guessing here, a feud with a psychopathic Intercontinental Champion who deliberately tried to end Matt's career with a dastardly attack to his head.

Matt had a good Cruiserweight Championship reign in 2003, and was entertaining as V1. However, I think this feud with McIntyre could be a awakening feud for him.

He's been in plenty of good solid feuds the difference is that rather than push him to be a big star with the overness he has they instead job him to those that they want to get over and push
In the space of this year he went from being CM Punk's personal job bitch to that guy Dolph Ziggler always beat to now being Drew McIntyre's personal punching bag
Oh and I predict there will be at least three posts saying that Matt has no charisma and is terrible despite him being more over than every man on the Smackdown roster at the moment that hasn't won a world title

I don't think he's a lost cause, and it wouldn't take much to push him to the next level based on how over he is. Whether they want to or not? That's another matter.

Christian and Matt are on the same level.
And at least Matt isn't a f*** up like his brother.

He isnt as devoid of charisma as people make out. His promo on Edge on his return was great. Up until the car crash comment, at which point it just lost all momentum.

I like him, but I still feel like he's just been riding the wave of the Hardy Boyz success all these years. Also, his theme music has become pretty iconic by now. As soon as the fans hear "OOOOOOH YEAHHHHH!," I think they just cheer on instinct. By now, nobody remembers what's so appealing about Matt Hardy.

As soon as the fans hear "OOOOOOH YEAHHHHH!," I think they just cheer on instinct. By now, nobody remembers what's so appealing about Matt Hardy. Almost every show he appears in, there's a very audible "Hardy" chant. But I guess you can say Jeff's popularity had something to do with it. "Where's Jeff?" "He's not here anymore, but his brother Matt still is." "Ok, let's shift the chant to him then!" I think Matt peaked during his V1 one days. Although his feud with MVP over the US title was the last real awesome thing that's ever happened to him. That whole thing was just gold.

If he re-debuted as Matt Hardy v2.0 (complete with MATT FACTS), then I'd become one of his biggest supporters. I've been waiting for version 2.0 for years.

Matt Hardy v2.0 is his best shot at singles success. The only problem with that is he'd have to get a new hand signal.

I think Matt's chances of a ME push are over, but that doesn't mean that he has no place in the WWE. He serves a very important role, he's over and the bookers can use him to establish new heels. There's no shame in that. It's an important role in the business.
It's a work, not everyone who "deserves" the belt will get it. If they did, the belts would be even more meaningless.

Matt Hardy v2.0 is his best shot at singles success. The only problem with that is he'd have to get a new hand signal. Maybe putting his pinky and ring finger together (not crossed)? That way it's V II, although it could be easily mistaken for the number 7 in Roman numerals. Hell, if that's the case, he can adopt a Final Final 7/Kingdom Hearts-esque gimmick. He already has the keyblade as a logo. Or maybe he could just do a "V.1 Reboot".

Leave us not forget that Matt Hardy was probably the most over (WWE)ECW champion of all time, I'd say he ties with Christian. It's just a sham that they both have to deal with being the "Jannetty" of their respective tag-teams. I think it means they have to work a lot harder to get shots that guys like Sheamus and Swagger are getting way too easily.

I remember in interviews with the Hardys they both always said that Matt would get the world title first. Anyway I agree with Souper, he's fine where he is.

Christian and Matt are pretty much in the same boat, less successful partners of their more successful tag teams.
Matt's the "Janetty" of the "Janetties" though, right there with Anvil.

This topic again?
As for Matt Hardy the main eventer, that ship sailed with Edge/Lita. He will never be hotter and more over than he was then, and he blew it.
Otherwise, he's fine as a working man's babyface and popular midcarder. His look, moveset, and promos are all those of a midcarder, nothing more. In WWE, he's midcard for life, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

This peep thinks it's a joke to suggest that Matt Hardy and Christian are on the same level. Christian way surpasses him in the ring, on the mic and in terms of fan reaction. Yes neither of them is getting anything of a major push at the moment, but with Christian you have to imagine he would have were it not for bitterness over him leaving and going to TNA for a while.
