The whole place was booing him last night.. Why try pushing a guy for years on end as the top face in the company when you are constantly boos throughout the arenas because people are sick of his character already.
Whatever happened to change? You can still be over as a heel or a tweener

Your making your case based on Toronto, Canada aka Smarksville. He has always been booed like that in Canada. It is never that bad in the US. It would be a total knee jerk reaction to turn him based on a Canadian crowd.
Do you turn Chris Jericho face based oin the reactions he got last night?

The whole place was not booing him. He still got a pretty strong reaction from a large chunk of the crowd.

Exactly what I say. Cena is doing terrible as the supposed "face of the company". When he gets booed, they keep calling it "controversey".
The perfect way to turn him heel is by making him say I quit this week. Have him break a promise to the fans.

Obviously they're planning to turn Cena heel after Danielson makes him tap and takes his title next week on Raw.

Enough with Cena + Heel = Ratings.
Him being a face is not boring.
Him being Superman who overcomes the odds to the point where overcoming the odds means nothing anymore, and having a complete lack of suspense to any of his title feuds due to the fact that at Wrestlemania he has gone over Batista, HBK and HHH clean, amongst many other things, THAT is boring.

He doesn't get booed like that in the states, and with the reaction Batista and other heels were getting we all know how "smarky" Toronto is. Lately his reactions aren't too bad in the states, but with Orton's much better reactions and getting cheered not only by the adults who hate Cena, but the kids and women like him, I wouldn't mind seeing the boat steered more in his direction until eventually him and Cena fued with Cena turning heel.

Except he didn't get booed by the whole place, or not even the majority of it. So, no.

Yeah but why not just turn him heel and see what happens? Maybe it will produce exciting results? Right now it seems like TNA is willing to turn everyone under the sun heel, while WWE acts like scared children who are terrified a heel turn will cause Cena to sell 5 less shirts.

I couldn't disagree more. Why turn him heel when you could just get rid of him altogether?

It seems like a lot of smarks expect that a heel turn means that Cena would stop the Superman schtick, but what if it didn't?
The way WWE seems to book things, it wouldn't surprise me if a heel Cena ended up exactly the same as face Cena, Superman act and all, just now they put him up against faces, and have him throw out a generic insult or two directed at the crowd.

Do you turn Chris Jericho face based oin the reactions he got last night? Jericho fixed that himself by making them boo him shortly afterwards during his promo with Bret.

Course I don't see a ton of logic in turning him heel either. Aside from the fact that he would be insanely dull, he wouldn't move toys and t shirts anymore.

If Batista is any indication on what a heel turn can do for someones career, they need to pull the trigger when he leaves, Batista has been so good i no longer want him to leave, he has been absolute gold!!

Or that he could do what Batista, Hogan and so many others in the past have done and revitalize themselves with a change which allows for new talent to take the top face spot

Even if we were to accept the initial assumption that Cena is stale (and a better indication of that will be when his merchandise sales decline rather than when smarky fans boo him), WWE still won't (and shouldn't) even consider turning him heel until they're reasonably confident they have another babyface popular enough to take his spot as the face of the company.
The closest they have right now is Orton, and he's still got a long way to go before he'll be ready for that.

Batista has never been the top face, and was easy to turn heel. I would bet when he was a face he didn't move a 10th of the merch. Cena does. And Hogan was exactly the same for what? 13 years? He switched companies and was well into his 40's when he finally turned heel. Not to mention I highly doubt there is anything as big as the NWO around the corner for John, so i highly doubt it would be the same monumental career move for Cena that it was for Hogan.
