Cuz not everything that goes directly to the DVD rack is shovelware. The Crow: Salvation, was pretty interesting for what it was, a flick that actually managed to get a half way decent story out of a pretty weak in the knees movie series. A really good soundtrack too, which was also surprising. Universal Soldier: Regeneration, holy crap, this movie kicked my ass all week long and twice on Sundays. I can't believe what they got out of this flicks tiny 17M budget, it looked great and had some bang up action scenes and really quality fights. You could make an pretty good argument that it's not really a UniSol movie, but still I thought it was great. The Feast flicks, while technically part 1 had like a week long theater release I'll put that in with parts 2 and 3 for the trilogy. These films are f***ing insane, in a good way though. Really old fashioned monster horror splatter flicks, tones of comedy (more so as the series went on) and as much blood, guts and fluids as an average GWAR concert. Not to mention that biggest 180 out of nowhere endings (again, even more crazy as it went on). These films are interesting to say the least.

I thought Marine 2 was better than the Marine leaves room Make that two. It wasn't great or anything, but I thought it was entertaining, in the least. I'd give it a 3/5, which isn't spectacular, but good for a DtDVD movie. Actually, it's the perfect rating for it (aside from 4 and 5, of course). A 3 means it's worth a rental, which is where a lot of DtDVD movies do their business.

I really liked "Trick 'r Treat". I believe that had a limited theatrical run, so I wouldn't count that as a DtDVD release. If it is, then it's definitely on my list.

That has had a long theatrical run, in a variety of booths in and around the Times Square area.
