Was this a good Wrestlemania all things considered? It seems weird that a card that featured guys like Donk and Men on a Mission could be considered "good", but with matches like Bret v Owen and Razor V Shawn I could almost say X was actually "great". Hey remember when the IC Championship was almost more important then the World belt?

For being the first Mania without Hogan I thought this one was great, would've liked to see the ten man tag, could've went without the without Doink/dink vs. bam bam/luna match and the fake Clinton segments and I thought Bomb and Earthquake could've gone longer. It had it's ups and downs, but Bret winning at the end was awesome and a good introduction to the new generation.

I think most would agree that this was one of the best WM's of all time (as it does rate high when spoken about in other similar threads). It's one of my all time favorites and sandwiched between two of the worst Mania's of all time (9 which is also a personal favorite and 11 which was just flat out boring and a card in which very little stood out). WM 10 has the best (IMO)opener for a Mania ever in Bret VS Owen has a fun under card with an unfortunately short Earthquake (in his last Mania apperance till WM 17) VS Adam Bomb which was thew worst thing on the card (not counting face Doink with Dink vs Bam Bam and Luna which was certainly a fun match and aimed at the kids and this was the begging of the ultra kid friendly New Generation era) the night also ended well with Yokozunna being defeated in a re match against Bret Hart (in the only time in Mania history the champion had to face two challengers in one night also for the first time on the under card was another very short and disappointingly so match in Crush VS Macho Man falls count anywhere) and at the end of the match all the faces came into the ring to celebrate with Bret which was the dawning of the new generation era. The first big WWF ladder match between HBK VS Razor was awesome and ushered in the bagging's of a new era for WWF although I would argue that their Summerslam 95 Ladder match was better.

Are you kidding? WM10 features 2 of the best bouts in the history of WM: Bret vs Owen and Razor vs HBK.

Ehhh imo; It's neither yay or nay, to me it was one of those WM's that had a few good matches on the card and that's it, like mentioned Razor / HBK and Bret / Owen.

Awful WrestleMania. Outside of Bret/Owen and Razor/HBK this would be a terrible episode of Raw.
I can't believe it gets the praise it does.

This was the peak of Bret's career. He beat Yokozuna for the WWF Championship, after losing to him one year earlier at WM 9.
I have to say one of the greatest WrestleManias ever.

And I've always found the Shawn/Razor match to be overrated (and before replying, yes, I know I'm probably the only one who does).

It's not overrated, it just doesn't stand the test of time perfectly. All psychology and storytelling.

It's not overrated, it just doesn't stand the test of time perfectly. All psychology and storytelling. No, it doesn't stand up, but I don't think it WAS great psychology and storytelling. I think it was 2 guys who were popular in a match not many people had seen at that time with the result people wanted to see. I'm not calling it a bad match, I'm just saying it wasn't the "classic" most people say it was.

I think a strong argument could be made for it being the best Wrestlemania to date.

I loved Shawn v Razor and I personally do think that it has stood the test of time, but that's just my opinion. Everything in the match made sense in terms of the structure of the match and it was not just a series of nonsensical spots as modern day ladder matches can descend into.
Owen v Bret was also brilliant and easily the best opening match in Wrestlemania history, but as many have said those two were the matches that carried the card in terms of match quality.
However, what in my view made this a truly great Wrestlemania on top of these two matches was that there was a great Wrestlemania moment when Bret won the title. It may have followed a pretty poor match against Yokozuna (no where near as good as their match a year before at WM9) but this was Bret finally being selected as "the man" in WWF. He was no longer just keeping the belt warm for Hogan, as his first reign could arguably described as despite the fact in terms of match quality it was excellent. This time, Bret was unquestionably the man and him being carried on the shoulders of the other wrestlers at the end was a nice moment.
Lugar being screwed out of the title was also an interesting moment that should have lead to a good feud that sadly never materialised.
The rest of the card was pretty forgettable it does have to be said - but I think there was enough there to make it a very good Wrestlemania overall.
Plus - it had BURT FREAKIN REYNOLDS!!!!

I think Savage vs Crush was an alright brawl ending the feud. As a kid I liked the ending of the match

I guess it was good, I didn't like it from a personal standpoint, but The Harts match alone made it worthy, not to mention the ladder match on top of that. I like the Savage/Crush match too to wrap up that feud.

I actually like the Bam Bam & Luna vs Doink & Dink match. It's basically Bam Bam kicking Doink around for 5 minutes. I'm biased because I was a huge Bam Bam mark back then, but after putting him in such a ridiculous feud, it was nice to see him destroy Doink.

nay. It had a couple good matches, but anytime you have Doink and Dink, Men On a Mission, Alundra Blaze, etc in Wrestle Freakin Mania it can't be one of the best of all times.

Awful WrestleMania. Outside of Bret/Owen and Razor/HBK this would be a terrible episode of Raw. I can't believe it gets the praise it does. You'd equate WM10 to "a terrible episode of Raw" just because it ONLY had two classic matches? Name one WM filled with nothing but classic matches, or even a WM with more than 2 classic matches. It's easy to tear something down when you don't leave yourself vulnerable by citing preferred alternatives.

Yay This is one of my favorites after WM 9. I don't get the Doink hate but opinions are opinions. I liked the Savage and Crush match. I liked that there was resolution to the Lex/Bret storyline while also keeping Owen hot.

Even with a paper thin roster compared to previous years, this managed to be a great Wrestlemania. Going down the card, you can see why:
Owen Hart vs. Bret Hart: Arguably Owen's best match as well as a classic from Bret.
Bam Bam Bigelow and Luna Vachon vs. Doink the Clown and Dink: Kind of a cheesy gimmick match, but the WWF kept it short and sweet.
Randy Savage vs. Crush: Kind of a weird concept, given I don't think we've seen the exact same stipulations before or since. Still, it had a story going into it, and it was nice to see Savage back in-ring for what turned out to be his Wrestlemania swan song.
Alundra Blayze (c) vs. Leilani Kai: I honestly could care less about the women's division back then, but this match was less than five minutes long, so no harm, no foul. Plus just having a women's match kind of gave some variety to the event.
Men on a Mission (Mabel and Mo) (with Oscar) vs. The Quebecers (c): Meh, would have preferred to see the Headshrinkers or someone else in there rather than Men on a Mission. Still, MOM were pretty over at the time.
Yokozuna (c) (with Mr. Fuji and Jim Cornette) vs. Lex Luger by disqualification: Fun match that had a nice cameo from the legendary Mr. Perfect.
Earthquake vs. Adam Bomb (with Harvey Wippleman): What's a classic Wrestlemania, without some non-jobber squashes? Plus it featues Quake, win-win.
Razor Ramon (c) vs. Shawn Michaels (with Diesel): One of the greatest matches in WWF/WWE history.
Bret Hart vs.Yokozuna (c) (with Mr. Fuji and Jim Cornette): Fun match that had a storybook type ending and made Bret soundly look like THE Guy.
So there, you have it, while only two matches were certified classics, everything else was either kept short or had enough good material in it to keep things entertaining.
