Can anybody think of the times when WCW ripped off the WWF and what they ripped off as well? I just remembered how they had Brad Armstrong be somewhat of a ripoff of his brother, especially Road Dogg's usual schtick on the mic. Also, I think I remember Kronik being a rip-off of APA. Does anybody remember that? As for WWF, they mostly parodied certain things, though the McMahon-Helmsley Era angle seemed kind of similar to the Powers That Be angle that went on in WCW around that same time. Can anybody think of examples?

Oklahoma comes to mind.
I seem to recall one instance where he made fun of JR's Bells Palsy.

Sting was sort of like both Hogan and Warrior rolled into one....he was blonde and hailed from Venice Beach like the Hulkster...and had the face paint and wildman mannerisms of the Warrior.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley was almost the same exact character as Jean Paul Levesque, just he was from Connecticut instead of a Frenchman.

First thing that came to my mind was Brad Armstrong.

Asya being a ripoff of Chyna.
Why you'd wanna ripoff Chyna of all people, I'll never know.

In 1997 DX was pretty much a ripoff of the nWo, at least I thought so.

Didn't DDP start calling himself "the people's champ" when coming through the crowd?
Goldberg's look was originally criticized as ripping off Stone Cold.

Booker T's character became a Rock rip-off in 2000.
The Powers that Be busted Roddy Piper down to 'lowly referee', the exact same action and termed used by Vince to Shane the year before .

When people started to refer to Vince Russo as Vinny Ru..which is a ripoff of Vinnie Mac.
Plus that whole angle with Flair was nothing but a complete and shameless ripoff of the Employee v.s Boss feud that WWE did with Vince McMahon v.s Stone Cold. Russo thought we wanted to see Naitch's kids on TV just because we liked to see McMahon's on TV. It's no wonder WCW tanked in the ratings..

Amazingly, Kaientai's dubbed promo schtick seemed to be the exact same gimmick that Russo had given La Parka, the only difference being that La Parka actually acknowledged that he was being dubbed over.

WCW tried to play the wrestlers they got from WWE by the same personas. So in a way it could all be a "rip off".

WWE bring in Hell in a Cell in 97. WCW in 00 bring in "cage heat" Same as Cell in a Cell.
I think WWE copyed the Peoples Champion from DDP.
WCW in 96 starts the Crusierweight Divison. 97 WWE starts the LightWeight Divison.

When I mentioned APA and Kronik, I had no idea the booking would rip them off. I figure Bryan Clarke and Brian Adams were just made a tag team of two big dudes, then when I saw a backstage segment involving Disco Inferno and Alex Wright approaching Kronik for protection, I knew for a second that they were knocking off APA.
As for parodies, Gillberg pretty much wins that one.

Brad Armstrong being a ripoff of his brother was the entire point of the gimmick though. The Powers That Be, who "created" the Road-Dogg character, said that Brad had no charisma and was going to be fired unless he found some, so he decided to shamelessly rip him off. It was just lost on the audience because nobody had a clue that the two were related.
