"Any thoughts/memories?":
Yeah, quickly it was watered down from the original concept and thus it died a quick well deserved death.

I thought this incarnation of WWECW was a bastardization of ECW until Paul Heyman left. Then it really got bad. And then Joey Styles got replaced with f***ing Mike Adamle.

It actually started off pretty good until a few weeks in they said that matches could end in DQ's if you use weapons, then RVD got busted, then Heyman got sent home, and then it was just an abortion.

When it tried to be watered down old-ECW, it was the weakest show on WWE program. When that ended and Lashley became champion, the trend continued. When that ended, it became the only must-see program on WWE television up until it ended.

"Any thoughts/memories?": Yeah, quickly it was watered down from the original concept and thus it died a quick well deserved death. Well, it lasted four years. And given the way it's replacement has turned out, I could question whether it well-deserved. How many careers were launched or rescued because of this show? Conversely, how many WWE careers went to die after the wrestlers left the show?

It was better than the original. Damn straight. At least the roster didn't have to worry about bouncing checks.

If they had ran every show from the Hammerstein I would have watched religiously, for the sheer terror of it all.

Vince took a big, fat, smelly dump on ECW every week they used its name. It started out tolerably off the heels of a good show in One Night Stand. But it was clear that ECW wouldn't really be ECW as long as it was owned by WWE.

In hindsight, I'm really embarrassed that I actually expected the new ECW to be decent.

I liked the "new" ECW, even if it wasn't like the old ECW we know and love, just because the WWE was finally trying something new and it felt like I would miss something if I didn't tune in. I hadn't felt that feeling in a long time. Of course, that feeling wore off after a couple months but still, at least they did SOMETHING.

Four years ago everyone was speculating about a new aspect of WWE and how much they were looking forward to it. There were many theories about how new IWC favourites would be pushed, how the violence would be more extreme and how this could be the start of a new era.
Then something happened to ruin it all.
Some things never change.
Flair vs Big Show was my highlight of the early days of ECW.

They had some good matches early on, but once Angle left the week before SummerSlam, it was over to me.

Once it stopped trying to be a watered-down version of ECW, it became the best WWE show. Should have changed the name from ECW, yeah, but it was a great show in its past year.
