I'm pretty sure that everyone on this forum has made/laughed at a gay joke before. There's no sense in getting all uptight about this one.
I'm all for gay rights/gay marriage and things of that nature and sure, I think that most gay jokes are cheap insults, but if the biggest problem the gay community has is a muscled up jock implying that another muscled up jock is gay then they're doing alright.
I wonder what the reaction would have been had Daniel Bryan made a similar comment about Cole, or if the Miz had made the same comment to Gabriel. Just something to consider.

Yes, it does, because since it's a running gag, we know it's all just ribbing and it's not meant to offend gay people. It's not a running gag if it only happened once before the incident in question. Especially since the previous instance was less an insinuation that Gabriel was gay and more an idiot making an idiotic pun. Now we're just getting into the technicalities of running gags.

Wrestling's own version of Godwinn's Law comes into play!! The joke was stupid, would have been stupid no matter who said it. I'm not really offended, just dumbfounded that a company obsessed with PG and keeping sponsors sweet would send the company tool out there to say something like that to an audience of kids.

Well, Alvarez on Observer Radio said that he's straight, and wouldn't reveal who he is dating on the air - probably is dating someone within the 'E. I thought that whole promo was god-awful, he buried each of them, and Slater, even though I don't like him, is never going to recover from that Wendy's likening. No, Cena made the crowd care about Slater. As for the joke, well people just like to be offended I guess. It really was nothing. As someone said, if it wasn't Cena and was one of the IWC favourites who said it, it probably wouldn't have been made a big deal of. Shawn Michaels has made gay jokes, I don't remember anyone else making a fuss. I'm bisexual and it didn't bother me in the slightest.

Overcomplicating things FTW! But my opinion on the matter was that it wasn't too big of a deal. Just...come on, Cena, you can do better than gay jokes.

Just...come on, Cena, you can do better than gay jokes. "Jar of Mayonnaise with a Ketchup Haircut"?

TBH in the great spectrum of gay jokes, it wasnt even a particularly good gay joke.
Even so, it's hardly worth all the complaining. If Cena gets hit with the Future Endeavour Driver '85, then maybe this is all justified, but is that really gonna happen?

For the love of God, if a bisexual like me wasn't offended, it's nothing to complain to the FCC about.
I call stuff gay all the time "Justin Beiber's gay" "this crap is gay" etc. Nobody has ever complained to me to stop using it.
I await the inevitable "YOU'RE NOT REALLY BISEXUAL" comments.

People really are offended by this? It wasn't that big of a deal to be honest. If you complain about a subtle gay joke then you may as well complain about all the other things Cena has joked about (making fun of people's skin-color, their accent, their look in general, etc, etc.) as it could give kids the idea that it was okay to do this as well.

I didn't like the joke because it was lame as hell, not because he made fun of gays.

Well as a gay guy, i was more shocked than disgusted, I would of expected somebody like The Miz or somebody to use it for cheap heat. But as it's Mr. WWE, the face of the company making gay jokes it's really uncalled for, because he basically buried him for being 'gay'.

Besides, he never said anything about being gay. "Alternative way of thinking" could have meant anything.
(He meant gay.)

I was not surprised at all. Every old Cena promo I've seen has consisted entirely of very poor gay jokes. "You can have my number, since your the one that likes playing with balls." "Gangrel was sucking blood, you were sucking something else." This is just who the guy is.
A homophobic bigot.

It was obviously a gay joke, because after that line he says... "If you don't get it, I'll tell you later" or whatever he says... it's pretty lame to be perfectly honest.

I sorta cringed at all of his jokes, except the Wendy's one. I legitimately laughed at that one because of how he said it. I thought the Wendy's line was horrible, but was really amused at how the crowd picked up on it.

and Slater, even though I don't like him, is never going to recover from that Wendy's likening. Never going to recover? He's just got his own personalised heel chant, and the "Wendy sucks" chant was the best heat any of them got all night. Slater wasn't buried by Cena, Cena put Slater over.
