Great Crappler, you mentioned that the joke wasn't appropriate for a PG show. But isn't that a huge cause of complain with some of the older wrestling fans? The majority of the "IWC" seems to dislike the product being PG, and how some of Cena's jokes are "child like". So, the one time he actually goes out of his norm, he gets blasted for it? It's basically a lose/lose situation for the guy.

Are we even sure that he scripts his own promos?

Yes, many of these fans hate Cena's promos. Cena didn't go out of his norm. It is not a lose/lose. A few (and a very small amount) fans seem to be complaining and to me, that is not a case of him being "blasted."

Now I'd be the first one with his hand in the air and admit I've made and laughed at my share of gay jokes. Thing is it wasn't even a joke Cena made. He just implied Gabriel was homosexual.
Whereas his diss on Heath Slater was funny and got the crowd going, the "alternative thinking" line was just awkward.
A few mild gay jokes have their place in wrestling, let's not pretend that WWE are on any moral high ground. But Cena's line was the equivalent of pointing and saying "You're gay". I have no idea whether or not Gabriel's actually gay, but implying being gay is wrong is not the smartest thing WWE could get their top guy to do.

Okay, first of all let me say that I was not offended by the joke. I thought it was lame, that's about it.
But, seriously guys? Saying "get over it, it's just a joke" and "PC POLICE!"?
You DO realize that casual homophobia and implying that being gay is a bad thing is kind of, you know, not exactly how a group of people gains acceptance? Casual racism isn't okay, and I'd be offended if Cena went "LOL OTUNGA YOU'RE BLACK, THAT'S A BAD THING!".
Yes, I DO have a right to be offended when somebody implies that being gay is a bad thing. I don't care if it's a joke or not, casual homophobia does, in fact, slow down the general public's acceptance.
It's completely ridiculous to say that the gay community shouldn't be upset by things like that, and that we're "overly sensitive". Yeah, great, thanks. I'll let you know when gays and transsexuals stop being the victim of hate crime.
And for the record? I'd be just as offended if Jericho made homophobic comments than Cena.

I'm a bit shocked the guy dressed in purple was bashing someone's sexuality.

I'm a bit shocked the guy dressed in purple was bashing someone's sexuality. Gabriel was ALSO wearing purple, if we're going to go there. And this is coming from someone who well.... yeah... when it comes to Justin.

Meh, I thought Justin's reaction was the funniest thing of it all, not gonna lie.
I found the joke to be in poor taste, I'm not a big one on gay jokes anyway, but what can you do? As many people said, he's just doing things that kids do, and gay jokes happen to be one of them.

Offensive? Yes very. But it was still funny. As always with these Cena promos that people insist on hating I found this whole promo funny from start to end. Might have even been one of his stronger ones.

Just like it's okay for black people to call other black people the N word (not Nexus), yet ya better watch out if a white person uses that word, jokingly or not.

You know if some wrestler said that Hogan, Triple H, Cena, Mysterio, Cole, Russo, Bischoff or anyone else that the IWC hates with a passion "had an alternative way of thinking" in a promo, almost no one would had a problem with it. I'm just saying...
