I'm german and since I can't remember that there ever was a german guy in the WWE I can't really say. I'm really interested to see how they would stereotype a german Superstar though. Brakkus? That was probably before "my time" or during the time where they didn't air WWE over here for some years.

I think WWE should really stop the whole stereotyping thing altogether (gay and lesbians are also usually not portrayed very well). But that won't happen as long as Vince is in charge, I really think that's how he sees the world.

The whole Stereotype doesnt bother me.. As Brit i suppose Regal is the closest we get to a stereotypical character Though Wade barret does us proud Personally i think the Japanesse get it worse, Why do they assume they can't speak English? Having been to Japan i can safely say a good majority off them speak very good English.

Drew McIntyre is a hell of a step up from the Highlanders.

Germany never got much stereotyping from WWE (there is no Germany in WWE). WWF had Brakkus and he was pretty much a strong bodybuilder who wanted to wrestle.
Alex Wright first was a young rising star, then his dance pretty much became his gimmick. The only stereotype was the cheesy techno music.
Berlyn was awesome. Many people complain that it was a nazi gimmick, but it was not. It was awesome and even somewhat authentic since there are many gothic people who dress like Berlyn did. I did for some time. Nothing wrong with Berlyn. There might be Germans who were offended by Berlyn, but I wasn't.
About other nations: some might be offended by stereotypes (especially French and Italian people), but others might actually be proud of their nation being represented by an evil badass (Koslov, Khali, Iron Sheik, Berlyn, Ludvig Borga, etc.)

They've been very guilty of it over the years but lately, it doesn't seem be the case. Being foreign doesn't play into Barrett, McIntyre and Gabriel's much. Sheamus' does a little bit more than those three but still, he's not a stereotype like Finlay and Hornswoggle are/were.
Anyway, as for the British stereotype of us being posh, it doesn't bother me at all. People should be intelligent enough to know that that isn't how your average Brit acts and speaks.

I just find it funny that we're bizarro world for rooting for Canadian wrestlers, regardless of affiliation. It's more of a "cheer who we like, boo who we don't like" kind of mentality. If we only did it with Canadian wrestlers, I doubt the "bizaaro world" thing would have ever come about. And don't forget that Edge once got booed in Toronto despite being a face at the time. What's somewhat puzzling to me is that they don't also use it describe American smark towns where they get similar reactions.

I don't think that a character in wrestling should ever get under a fans skin personally when it comes to national stereotypes.

I love Regal personally, he's kinda a parody of the posh British stereotype and its brilliant. Barrett doesn't really use his "Britishness" as a part of his character so much as Regal.

Drew McIntyre is a hell of a step up from the Highlanders. Roody Piper, even though he wasn't a true Scot, already built things so well that not even Robbie and RORY could ruin it.

well I'm a New Zealander... who remembers the bushwackers? aside from that they have left us alone, I don't mind, we get raw, smackdown and the other shows all on the same channel from the same satellite network, and the pay-per-views cost less than half what they do in the states

I dunno, lately WWE's cut down on the stereotyping and made foreigners heels for reasons beyond where they hail from. Still Regal, sure, but that's basically his thing; meanwhile Sheamus, McIntyre, Barrett, and the like are villains more for their actions than for having their own customs.

I do wonder what Russian fans think, all their wrestlers are generally heel. In the 80s we didn't know about 'our' wrestlers out there (99.9999% of us still don't know, to be honest), now it's only Kozlov, but he's legit Russian at least. And he maybe stereotypical Russian, but not stereotypical Russian commie as all those guys twenty years ago, so that's okay.

I don't find it offensive, but it does annoy the crap out of me. I'm more offended by the likes of Muhammed Hassan, because my wife's Pakistani and in WWE they just think 'he's foreign, he's brown, HE'S A SUICIDE BOMBER HEEL!'

I just find it funny that Regal's a refined, posh character from Blackpool of all places, and they acknowledge this erudite man fought in carnival tents.

I suppose it could be worse for the British. We could have a Chav-esque wrestler representing us (Yes, I know about the picture of Barrett in a Burberry cap holding a baby), rather than a posh bloke & Bad ass dude a voice that everyone loves.

It was only natural for Russian wrestlers to be stereotyped as heels due to the "Cold War" element of history. And while for practical purposes the Soviet Union dissolved in the early 90s, it is still natural for some of us older fans who remember somewhat of the Cold War to automatically and subconscious wise to immediately perceive Russian wrestlers as heels. (whether it is an American playing the Russian character or an actual Russian wrestler)
