Never watched AWA so I have no idea how Otto Wanz was presented and what to think of it.

It was only natural for Russian wrestlers to be stereotyped as heels due to the "Cold War" element of history. And while for practical purposes the Soviet Union dissolved in the early 90s, it is still natural for some of us older fans who remember somewhat of the Cold War to automatically and subconscious wise to immediately perceive Russian wrestlers as heels. (whether it is an American playing the Russian character or an actual Russian wrestler) It's interesting that Nexus have some communist undertones to them with their "we are one" philosophy, it seems that type of heel still lives on without the need for the evil Russian.

As an Englishman, I'm glad when Americans think we're all refined and gentlemanly. The rest of the world have met our football hooligans, and harbour no such delusions. even then, your hooligans seem much more refined then our football/basketball "fans" who riot when their team loses (or even if they win). Watching this show, proves, even if they're talking about Masterbation and erections, Posh English accents make everything classier. You've never heard of 'football firms' have you? Gangs of opposing fans who don't particularly care whether their team wins or loses, they just use matchdays as an excuse to beat the living hell out of eachother. Wade Barrett personifies this character type fairly well, well now he's ditched his Don Corleone jacket/rose combo anyway.
