Wait...do Christmas Carols count as a genre? Because if they do, I change my answer to that.

While there are a ton of subgenres of music I don't care for, I don't try to limit myself when it comes to my musical tastes. Even if it's something I absolutely deplore, like pop music, I try to understand it a little bit so I know why I don't like it.
The thing that angers me more than anything is when someone oversimplifies an entire genre of music. Coming from someone who has listened to some extreme metal for at least a decade (and I've developed an ear to determine what's good and what sucks in that genre), I get really tired of having to defend what I listen to because someone doesn't understand why I would listen to it. Because I've dug deeper into that genre, I've actually discovered bands that became gateway drugs to other styles of music, and more of an understanding of those styles of music. So, to say that one genre of music is crap because of the A part, then you're missing the B part that might click and lead to something else.
Sorry. Had to get that off my chest, considering I'm such a music-phile.

"Modern country" is just pop music with a fiddle or a harmonica thrown in to get the country fans to listen. It's garbage and country fans should be ashamed of themselves for supporting it. (And most of the guys are xenophobic; they hate anything not "American" and play on that fear.)
Most modern rap, where all the guy does is talk about what a name-brand whore he is, and cursing every fifth word. (I like old-school rap, there's a story and you can follow it. Nowadays, if you don't mention Hypnotiq or Hennessey 17 times a "song", you don't get a record deal.)
The rest I can at least tolerate. (Even Polka, since my grandpa used to play the accordion at our German family functions.)

I absolutely hate metal or hard rock. There's absolutely no meaningful lyrics in either genre. It's mostly really agressive and I think it's the bottom of the music genre barrel. Oh come on. You don't like it because it's aggressive which is fair enough. But to say that there's no meaningful lyrics is absolutely ridiculous.

Christian rock. I got nothing against Christianity, but it just sounds lame to rock out to Jesus. As Hank Hill once said, "You're not making Jesus cool. You're making rock worse."

Also, polka. I don't like polka. Unless, it's done by Weird Al Yankovic.

I like pretty much any style of music. Every style has a fe good artists, and a ton that suck.
However, there is one exception in my opinion. I don't even know exactly what it's called, but that middle-of-the-road softer rock music like Nickelback or Daughtry is just awful. There's no apparent artistry to what they're doing, it's just so by the numbers that it's unbelievable. The whole genre is a one trick pony, and that one trick f***in sucks.

Same way I feel about most people who hate rap, or just paint the entire genre with the same broad brush, because of what the radio plays.

Now, can anyone tell me what this song is about when listening to the song or the music video? A lot of bands are like this. Not all though...
