WWE seriously hasn't had a real over heel since Edge in 2006. I think people can disagree with that, especially this past year with Jericho and Punk. As I've said, and others, these guys were attacked by fans. To me, the only reason Jericho is a better heel then Punk, is Jericho was attacked by more people then Punk. If you can get someone so emotionally riled up, that they want to do some sort of harm to you, then you're really good at getting people to hate you. Didn't Jericho's fan altercations end up being worked?

John Bradshaw Layfield. People wanted him to lose so very badly. Eddie, Big Show, etc got a lot of fan support in large parts because they had a chance, and John Cena's rise was largely solidified with his feud with JBL, and being the man who finally dethroned him.
(I mean this in regards to saying that this mindset of booking doesn't work in the modern age. Not in regards to the idea WWE hasn't had an over heel since Edge, which is a bit of a crock in its own right.)

When I was watching ROH, I used to LOVE Jimmy Rave matches.
Main reason? I thought he was a very good performer, but I absolutely loved to boo him and hope the face beat him and Prince Nana. Same with Chris Hero during the CZW invasion storyline.
Lazy booking and poor promo writing, however, will remove the desire to see a guy get beaten.
EDIT: Also, as it was mentioned on page one, the other big issue is that when these bad guys are losing every damn week or whatever, what's the big desire to see them lose on pay per view? Who cares at that point?
