He was cool, then dorky, then cool again. Now he's hopelessly adorkable.

I always preferred him as a heel. His time in the Nation and the Corporation was awesome but from late '99 up until he went 'Hollywood' I didn't find him as interesting. My sentiments exactly. Especially his repetive promos, his 5 moves of doom, his superman push, and using the people's elbow as a finisher. Seriously, he beat X-Pac, Road Dogg, and Mr Ass in a 3 on 1 match.

I didn't really like him at all, until he became Hollywood Rock. His face act was stale and he was basically alot like Cena has been for the past several years.

I was expecting to click on this thread and find a gigantic picture, like a "Where's Waldo" but with The Rock.
Anyway, yeah, I didn't really care all that much for The Rock. Thought he was okay, but not the end-all be-all of entertainment that other people thought he was. I was/am a big fan of a bunch of guys he feuded with though (Austin, Foley, Hunter, Angle, Jericho, etc.), and looking back I can appreciate what he brought to the table in those feuds. Though I'm not really fond of the idea nowadays that anybody who doesn't have a catchphrase or doesn't follow the pattern of delivery The Rock followed, must therefore not have "charisma."
Wait, what was the question?

Rock's big push in 1999 was a big factor in me abandoning WWF at the time. I honestly really disliked how it felt like he was giving the same promo every single week, wrestling the same match every week, etc.
That said, I've gotten to look back and see certain times when the guy was absolute gold. He was certainly one of the sharper minds (and tongues) in the industry, played a remarkable heel, and after I had stopped watching he did a decent job of evolving his character a bit to freshen up.
So I think I'd have liked Rock more in the day if I had seen him in smaller doses, but his super-push completely turned me off at the time.
