The Place: Philadelphia
The Show: RAW
The Match: All 5 members of Spirit Squad vs Jim Duggan, Eugene, Big Vis, Val Venis and Snitsky.
The Result: The Spirit Squad win after 5:22 via pin (credit 411mania)
OK first let's just got through what the faces did here:
Eugene: Gets beaten down mostly.
Val Venis: Recently returned from injury, reward gets mostly beaten down.
Viscera: Doesn't even get in the ring as he gets kicked/dropkicked off the apron. This is supposedly a 500lbs man who Big Show struggles to move, ridiculous.
Hacksaw Jim Duggan: Throws a few punches, but does nothing else except lots of chanting "Hoooooo!"
Snitsky: Gets to actually do some offense, but in the end is the one who recieves the big Top-Rope finish by the Spirit Squad.
The Problems:
For a start this match was only 5 minutes long!! ... 5 minutes!! ... how on earth can any audience care about any of the guys involved here? ... If it is all equal each wrestler gets about 30 seconds in this match.
Usually when we have ten man matches they last a while. Now I know this isn't a survivor series match, but c'mon. Lita vs Torrie lasted longer. Ditch one of the pointless Vince segments and give matches like these some more time. It's Sports Entertainment supposedly, so entertain us with something based on sport!!
Now this isn't an anti-spirit squad post. I actually think for a heel tag team they are doing well, but to have them go over 5 guys who have had a few decent achievements in the past is stupid. Especially so quickly.
Viscera and Snitsky the two biggest guys out there should be treated as a cause for concern for the the Spirit Squad ( I Don't expect them to win, but at least show they are a threat!). But no instead Viscera doesn't even make a tag, and Snitsky gets a 5 man beat down! ... Referee? What referee?
Overall what could have been a fun match, turned into a lazy mess. So next time two members of the Spirit Squad take on Val & Venis, why I should I bother watching? Afterall Kenny can just dropkick Vis off the apron and then they can all beat up Venis.
These little things make the show tick, and this one really annoyed me!

What!!??! How could you not like last night's last minute team? As you can see in my sig those guys are my dream team for this years Survivor Series.... minus Venus of course. He's ways to lousy in the ring for that team. Lets add the wrestling machine Conway instead and you've got the next nWo and DX rolled into one.

Agreed. When you watch it, you're not expecting to watch the MotY, but at least have it make sense

Eh, the 5:22 thing is warranted, because outside of the Spirit Squad... who gives a shit about these guys?
Viscera not being in the ring is a good thing in my opinion.

I don't see the problem. It was more entertaining to me than any of the other udnercard matches on Raw. Highlanders squash coming in second only because of Striker's "I'm smart! they're crazy!!" thing.
The match (and the Highlander match) served its purpose of getting the Heat regulars on Raw this week, since there were no Heat tapings.

But these guys are supposed to be the faces. Having them put in no offence makes it a point that they have no chance in the future. They will forever be cursed to recieving no heat at all

Eh, the 5:22 thing is warranted, because outside of the Spirit Squad... who gives a crap about these guys? Viscera not being in the ring is a good thing in my opinion. The point is, if they gave all of these guys some actual ring-time like they did for the midcard in the 90s then people actually might give a damm about them. Koko B.Ware ... Everybody knew that Koko B.Ware was never going to win anything of any note in the wwe. But he was still treated as a threat to any heel he faced. From this appearence he actually recieved fan support and admiration. Everyone in that ring apart from Hacksaw (He's too old) could potentially achieve something in the WWE if they had a little fan support behind them. They may not win a title but at least they could be used as a decent threat to the heels or IC title picture.

They had offense. It didn't come off as one sided to me as you make it seem.
I don't think they really made any of them look bad. They were a team of idiots and weirdos, so of course they'll not be too much of a chellenge for the world tag champs. I don't recall any of them coming off very bad though, maybe Val, but come on, it's Val Venis... that ship has sailed years ago.

I think the match that showed the faults of the WWE was the debut of the Highlanders. They show vignettes for a few weeks and say they will be debuting them on this date etc. etc. Then they put them in a match where one of their opponents won't get in the ring, essentially making it look like a handicap match and cheapening the debut.

there's too many members(and i do mean Members huh huh huh) in the squad, theyre getting lost in the shuffle, unlike a group like say The Four Horsemen

It should've just been Hacksaw and Eugene VS the Spirit Squad. Dropkick Hacksaw out of the ring and the 5 of them can destroy Eugene. I still mark for Eugene-getting-his-@$$-kicked segments. I hate that guy.

The match served no purpose just like all things involving the Spirit Squad. Shelton vs Harry Smith should of been on television instead.

Shelton had the f'ing match of the month AGAIN for the 3rd straight month so the zero exposure agrument holds no weight. The SS is a joke right now. They don't defend the belts and they are not heading anywhere. It was the biggest waste of time filler on Raw this past week next to those idiotic DX segments.

Shelton Benjamin is off and on television. He's on the off time right now. Spirit Squad didn't have anything to do this week, so they wrestled the five weirdos. What's wrong with that? And who would you like them to defend the tag titles against? Cade & Murdoch? Val & Vis? Who? There aren't any tag teams in the WWE, and that's a completely different argument. The match was not pointless. Spirit Squad have been made to look like bitches for the last little while, they got some heat back.

Benjamin has been on television more than the SS this year and for the last two years as a whole. The SS is a worthless stable that is gonna bury 5 no names before they even get started once they try individual acts. And whatever heat you thought the SS got back, the Philly crowd didn't express those same sentiments as they sat there quiet and without response except to Hacksaw.

So? It's Philadelphia. They're a super fickle crowd.
The Spirit Squad aren't supposed to be liked, you getting mad about them getting TV time instead of a generic wrestler fighting the son of a dead generic wrestler is just proof of their regained heat.

Getting mad? Please. The SS won't be nothing after Summerslam and will be jobbing to Cena and HHH/Shawn Michaels full time once this initial push is over. Shelton vs Micahels or HHH is on the horizon. Talent can't be denied but mediocrity? That disappears on a yearly basis. Chris Masters proved that.

Chris Masters got busted by the Wellness Program. Guaranteed he'd still be pushed if he was around.
Shelton is getting a super push? When? I'd like to know since you can read the future and all. Hey.. wait...
are you the tarot card lady?
LoL The Spirit Squad aren't mediocre. They're a good act and they'll be around as long as they need to be (as a stable). Most teams/stables are broken up by now, and still they're holding together. They've got talent, and they've got great gimmicks. They'll be around simply because people keep booing.
