Something like this right? *Language Warning in the opening text!* Yeah I always love that stuff. It's very different. Kind of, yeah.

Pro Wrestling is Pro Wrestling, Shoot is MMA or High school/college style No, not really--pro wrestling used to visually resemble proto-MMA, even though it was fixed. There hasn't always been a strict separation in style and feel, other than the obvious "wrestling is fixed" deal. Point is, we don't need to go back into kayfabe, but I do think wrestling needs to look and feel more real than it is.

I'm all for increasing realsim in wrestling but I've gotta say no. Becuase let's be honest here the whole shoot style has long pasted its used by date and would just look silly when comapired to MMA.
Not to mention that the brawl for all proved that allowing wrestlers to duke it out real is a recipe for disaster.

And really, that was more of a tough man contest, not shoot style. I don't think it works as an argument against what I'm suggesting.

I think with the boom of MMA popularity this could never work, maybe people are a fan of the stiff style in wrestling but a entire event like that would probably get boring pretty quick. The thing that makes pro wrestling so unique is the different styles of wrestling and the high variety of things you can do to make it interesting I think that is why people enjoy pro wrestling they can suspend there disbelief and watch some amazing athletes perform. A Lot of people are under the impression that if wrestling realism would be turned up it would help the current state of the industry which is way down but I would have to disagree. If people want to see MMA they are going to watch MMA if people want to see wrestling they will watch wrestling

If people want to see MMA they are going to watch MMA if people want to see wrestling they will watch wrestling They presupposes that there's only one wrestling style and one MMA style. But the truth is that it's more complex than that. I believe wrestling needs to be seen as believable again, and to do that, things have to change in the way the product is presented. Since people do buy MMA as being real, I believe pro wrestling should incorporate SOME elements from it. I'm NOT suggesting top rope moves be banned, or have the wrestlers wear gloves, or have the matches take place in a cage. What I'm suggesting is something that feels like a sport, but with theatrics and drama, as opposed to theatrics and drama with only elements of sport.

Hmmm, wrestling could benefit from having the title bouts spread out more like UFC.

One thing I'd like to see--and this is not so much MMA based, but more about making titles look more legit and important--is a rule where a wrestler has to ALWAYS defeat a champion in a non-title match to get a title shot later.

I imagine a wrestling promotion that looks more like Street Fighter/Fatal Fury/King of Fighters than WWE where you have competitors who are clearly pro wrestlers but then you have guys that look more like martial artists or just Terry Bogard-like brawlers. Then of course also have at least 1/4 of the roster done up as MMA type guys who dress like MMA fighters and do a lot of submission moves. They would all be pro wrestlers however in the end. It could be promoted as "It's Not Pro Wrestling, It's Not MMA, It's <ENTER NAME OF PROMOTION HERE>. It wouldn't matter so much really if MMA fans wouldn't touch it but rather would possibly give a fresh breath of air for pro wrestling like ECW did in the 90s.
