It is doing to men what Twilight does to women. Uh, are you serious? This. That is so far off the mark its unreal. I dont see men wearing TEAM RAMONA t-shirts. I dont see every guy on Facebook posting Scott Pilgrim statuses. Im sick of reading about Twilight on Facebook.

Im sick of reading about Twilight on Facebook. The only SP-related stuff on the Internets are just your run-of-the-mill .gifs from the movie, awesome fan-art, etc. Not any of the Twilight-related memes or that sort.

I loved it. And this is coming from a Michael Cera hater.

I'm only 35 minutes into it and it feels like it's been 3 hours.

You forgot to mention "love of special effects for every single beep or ring in the entire movie". I get it, doors and phones make sounds. It's like watching a Tarantino movie, just replace his freakish obsession with movie-reference-overkill with video games. And how dare you question my love for cute Asian girls! Those are dueling words, my friend. EDIT: I should probably point out that I'm actually enjoying the movie

Completely. Ramona is approached by an awkward nerd who starts talking about Pac-Man and soon after thinks, "oh, finally, a guy who will help me overcome my past!" Saying "FULL OF WIN" in an NES controller t-shirt is not gonna help you score the girls, dudes. Beyond that, the way he deals with Knives in the books was disgusting. While Twilight is showing girls that they should just stand back and let the creepy stoic men help them out, Scott Pilgrim is on the other end of the spectrum, making sure men are kept as manbaby as possible. I got together with my first girlfriend at an anime convention while dressed as a character from Lucky Star, and part of what started the relationship was that she referenced the 1974 Doctor Who story Planet of the Spiders and I got it, and we realised how similar we were. Reality is unrealistic. And yes, Scott Pilgrim is not a nice guy, and the way he treats Knives is not a good thing. The book itself says that. The characters point that out from the beginning. Being a protagonist doesn't mean you have to be sparkly-white and pure. That kind of thinking went out centuries, if not millennia ago. Sam Spade slept with his partner Archer's wife. Sir Lancelot lanced Guinevere.

In fact, learning not to be not that much of an asshole is the entire point of the books/movie. In order to love others, you've gotta love yourself. A bit cheesy, but there it is.

I thought the movie was great! I'm not a comic book or a video game nerd, but it's such a visually stimulating film. The only reason I saw it was because I enjoy Edgar Wright's previous work. I'll admit that the movie starts very slow, but things really pick up once the first fight is underway.
Great special effects, and great fights.
