My brother is a moderately well-known performance artist. Has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, done lecture tours around the country, had a show on Channel 4, and, somewhat unrelatedly, won the 1989 London Marathon Poster Competition. That's the second time I've heard of the Edinburgh Fringe recently. The other time was when someone I've known for QUITE some time made her England debut as a comedian. Heck, she even made it as a finalist to the Funny Women Awards shortly after and impressed someone well enough that she's how going to take her act to Melbourne.

My dad's storied "brush with fame": He once took a leak next to Packers' running back Jim Taylor.
(If that isn't obscure and/or tedious, I don't know what is.)
Another one I just remembered: my cousin was an extra in the Michael J. Fox/Joan Jett movie "Light of Day". He was in the party scene. (Even weirder, I once worked with a girl whose father owned the hotel in which the actor stayed at for that exact film. Completely random. And she said, "He was a real jerk.")

After a house show, I was waiting at a corner for my ride. I saw Arn Anderson and Ricky Steamboat driving. I gave the Dragon the thumbs up, and he returned the gesture. Arn was driving the car, and he looked reaaaallly pissed. I tried giving him the Horsemen salute, but he didn't see me. He then proceeded to run a red light, and got several horn honks. I've met RVD, Dawn Marie, and Howie Long at autograph signings. Shook hands and got a picture with Samoa Joe at an Indy show. Bill Alphonso was also there, he talked me in to buying two signed photos of him, and when I said I'd take the Hardcore Homecoming one, he had no idea which one I was talking about My wife's second cousin is country star Tanya Tucker (she's named after her). She's also realted to the Adult Film Star Belladonna - she's met her a few times at family reunions, but strangely enough, Belladonna's not invited to too many of those get-togethers

Indy Car Champion Sam Hornish Jr. is from my hometown. It's actually kinda sad how everyone in the surrounding towns try to claim him. "He's from here!" "Oh, but he went to school here!" "Oh, but he lives here now!" I rang up his groceries one Thanksgiving and everyone was like "OMG he's here!" I didn't really care but I was kinda nervous, mostly since he opened up his billfold and had like 30 credit cards and a Blackberry back when they were new. Never knew that you were from Defiance, man. Napoleon actually, but close enough. Between Defiance, Napoleon and Archbold, every town was trying to claim him. I think he's from Defiance but lives in Napoleon, but I moved to Toledo over 3 years ago so I don't know if anything's changed.

-Jeff Foster of the Indiana Pacers is my (2nd?) cousin.
-Cody Linley, who was on Hannah Montana and a contestant on Dancing With the Stars, is my ex-step cousin. I met him a few times at Christmas gatherings and we played basketball a couple times. At that point, he had only had some bit parts in stuff like My Dog Skip and Miss Congeniality.
-I played high school football with Henry Melton, now of the Chicago Bears and former Texas Longhorn, and Colt David, former LSU kicker probably best remembered for his fake field goal touchdown run.
-I played middle school and pee wee football with and against (at various times) Saints backup QB Chase Daniel and Kicker Garrett Hartley.

I've also met R Truth and MVP.

I've corresponded via email with Mighty Mighty Bosstones singer Dickie Barrett and Gene "Duke of Earl" Chandler. Other than that, all I've got is meeting a few guys from bands after shows (mostly Jerry Only of the Misfits) and a good number of wrestlers at Fanfest.
Closest I have to a something in tune with the nature of this thread is that I worked a couple of indie shows for a local group who had brought in Dirty White Boy (TL Hopper) and Jimmy "Bunkhouse Buck" Golden, but that was before I worked there.

I met Bill Clinton back in 87 or 88 at a Future Farmers of America meeting. He told me my team would lost that night to the Bulls (I was wearing a Pistons tshirt). He was wrong. My cousin's aunt dated Kingdom Come's bass player. One of my friends dated Doctor John's son. My wife has met Penn Jilette. He regularly attends the annual town fair.

Oops forgot one VERY related to this forum: I waved and got a response in the parking lot from Flex Kavana back when he was wrestling in my hometown form the USWA promotion. He later went on to some success as The Rock. Just wish I would have went to that show...

My dad ate lunch with Ronald Regan at a McDonald's. The picture was even in my high school civics book.
I played high school football against former LSU Tiger and New York Giant, Corey Webster.

I once Met Tony McCoy he was up in Scotland for the Scottish Grand National he stopped and talked to me for a couple of minutes about things. He was a nice guy i was happy when he went on and won the Grand National (last year) a couple years later.
I have met minor actors that unless you know program won't know who they are as they mainly Scottish Actors from Scottish TV programs like Chew N' Fat, Only an Excuse,.

Where to start? One of my best friends is the guitarist for death metal band Origin. My Gibson Flying V used to belong to Eric Peterson from Testament. I went to the Same high School as Kevin Bacon Me and my friends used to hang out with Children of Bodom whenever they played Philly. A friend of ours had moved to Helsinki, and those guys took really good care of her when she was getting settled, so the next time they played, we bought them 4 cases of beer in gratitude. I ran into Alexi last week while he was in L.A. for NAMM, and he STILL remembers me, 6 years later. Talked to Wino for about a half hour the other day. Helped out KAtey Sagal's kid when he wanted a talkbox at my store. I run into Colin Farrell at the Whole Foods down the street from me. Apparently Ron Perlman lives in my neigborhood. And, these are just from hanging out at the Rainbow: Drunkenly sang Iron Maiden karaoke with the guy who played Leatherface. Hung out with Dez Cadena last time the Misfits were in town. We drank a lot of whiskey at the bar, then he invited me back to his hotel room to help him finish off a bottle of gin(not like THAT. He's very good friends with my friend, who's one of the bartenders there) Same bartender gave me a ride home the other night. You know who else she gave a ride to? You guessed it: God. I'm sure I have a few more, but that's all I can think of.
