While girls do far better in school than boys, men tend to have more real-life success than women.
So who is smarter? I'll go with women since they are far better academically, in K-12 and University/College. School is the main determinant of how smart one is, even if it poorly translates into real-life.

Homer: Man smart! Marge: The woman is smarter! Though TBH, I believe we're even.

Honestly I really don't think one group is any more intelligent than the other. And further more, I think saying things like "Men are smarter than women" or visa versa is just as prejudicial as saying "White people are smarter than black people" or visa versa. It really just comes down to the person. Some girls are smarter than some boys and some boys are smarter than some girls.

School is the main determinant of how smart one is, even if it poorly translates into real-life. No..... Just......No School is NOT that....School is where you LEARN things. Testing in said school tests retention of said information. Under the logic presented anyone who doesn't "Test Well" (Anxiety, Recognized Learning Disorders, BOREDOM!) must not be smart. Imagine if you will there's a student that simply pays no attention to a course. They understand it completely but while they're teaching A, B, & C....that student comprehends it and is moving on to D, E, & F. That student isn't paying attention because they already "Know" the material.....but becaue they aren't on the same wavelength as the teacher, they don't pass the test. Hell.....let's expand this to non concrete disciplines, away from math and science to the Arts. Let's assume that you're discussing the themes of a particular piece of literature. You believe that X symbolizes Y, while your teacher believes it symbolizes Z. The lack of an author approved reading guide means that BOTH interpretations are valid, and your life experiances make you more inclined to believe your hypothesis....along with the ability to use footnotes/quotes/etc to back it up. But.....in the long-run it doesn't matter what you think or how well you've backed up your thesis, it disagrees with your teacher and therefore it's wrong. You fail the test. Are you any smarter or dumber than the student that blindly copied from the Teacher by rote simply for not doing so?

School is a poor determinant of who is smart or not. Intelligence is the mind's ability for abstract thought, understanding, problem solving and communication. While learning may be a component of that, the ability to memorize things out of a textbook isn't all that there is to intelligence.
Studies on intelligence (well, on IQ at least) tend to show that more men occupy the highest and lowest ends of the IQ spectrum than women do, which would mean that, at the top, men would have a better propensity for intelligence, while overall, women would be more consistent in their intelligence.
That said, I don't think there is an inherent advantage with either gender, as environmental factors that can relate to intelligence can't be discounted.

Well, I should say school is how SOCIETY decides who is smart or not. You could be the next Albert Einstein, but unless you have those papers, unless you prove it in the academic world, it doesn't mean bugger-all (unless you invent something or do something miraculous).

I don't think any gender is definitively smarter than the other, because there are both really smart men, really smart women, really dumb men, and really dumb women. There are too many variables for me to say that one is smarter than the other.

1. Formal education has nothing to do with intelligence.
2. This poll is silly

Prepare for psychology geekiness. Some psychologists believe that we're all born as a blank slate, and all behaviour is learnt. On that basis, psychologists used to believe that intelligence had to be learnt as well. Gardner's theory on multiple intelligences completely revolutionised this way of thinking, and suggested that many types of independent intelligence existed. Basically, men and women are completely equal in this respect, each individual has different intelligences, and this explains why each person is more suited to some problems and puzzles than another may be. Some may be excellent at word puzzles, but poor at problems involving mathematics and vice versa. If I recall rightly there are about seven intelligences, and those with, say, a high linguistic intelligence are writers and poets etc. It's on an individual level rather than gender specific, of course this is all theoretical, as much of psychology is! Also, school doesn't determine how intelligent you are, really. It teaches you how to pass exams. I suppose it shows you how well you can problem solve in some questions... but it's definitely not a secure method of measuring intelligence.

Girls go to Mars to get more candy bars.
Boys go to Venus to get more penis.
Candy bars > Penis. Girls are smarter.

That "blank slate" idea is pretty much known to be bull, though That's a matter of nature vs nurture, and that debate ended ages ago - it's both. But yeah, neither is smarter. I'm smartest!

Based on personal experience, neither.
But by and large, I think guys are more down to earth. That doesn't necessarily equal intelligence, though.

I can see why the poll would be skewed toward men. You have Newton, you have Hawking.

Depends on the person but I voted for Women because I have a feeling the voting is going to be really one sided.
