Right now their roster is as follows: Starters: Rondo/Allen/Pierce/KG/Kristic Bench: West/Wafer/Green/Davis/Shaq Will never see a minute on the court: Bradley/Jermaine That's three openings. I'm assuming they make a run at Rip and Murphy, with a focus on Murphy. I'm not sure of the other buyout possibilities. Anyone know if Dalembert could get bought out by Sacramento? Kings want to re-up Dalembert. I think he's staying. Plus can they even afford to let him go until they know for sure that Cousins can get past being a head case?

Lost in all this is that Boston is getting to get absolutely obliterated by Denver tonight. Their bench consists entirely of Delonte West, Von Wafer, and Avery Bradley. Yikes. Pierce is going to see a lot of minutes at PF tonight.

would Detroit really buy out Rip? Wouldn't that cost, like, an ass-load of money? He's still got two more years on his extension after this season.

Bulls game, but I want to see how Boston survives the new Nuggets, tight bench and all.

WojYahooNBA As you'd expect, Celtics vets are livid over trade of Kendrick Perkins, sources say. He's the tough guy, enforcer. But BOS can't pay him.

Their two tallest players are named Bamba Fall and Tiny Gallon. I'll pay for the flights myself just to see those two guys in Celtic uniforms tonight.

Jesus, I'm really gonna miss Perkins. The guy was a total dud on offense, and I ripped on him all the time for his stone hands and idiotic fouls/technicals, but the guy was a rock on defense. They're really gonna miss his toughness. A lot rests on Big Baby's ability to guard Howard should the teams meet in the playoffs. He usually does a respectable job when they go that route, but now they're asking even more out of him.

The Celtics can't pay Perkins, but they can pay Jeff Green, who has almost the exact same contract as Perkins? I'm having trouble figuring that one out.

He just saw Brendan Haywood get 6/$55M. I'm guessing Danny thought he had no chance of holding onto him and wanted to get someone who is easier to extend. I'm starting to see the logic, but I don't agree with it whatsoever. Now is not the time to worry about the future.

He usually does a respectable job when they go that route, but now they're asking even more out of him. It's getting to the point where I want them to just shut Shaquille O'Neal down until the start of the playoffs, so his legs can be as close to 100 percent as possible. They need him to be as fully healthy as possible, because he's the only man who could body up with Dwight Howard or Andrew Bynum in a seven-game series. The Celtics can't pay Perkins, but they can pay Jeff Green, who has almost the exact same contract as Perkins? I'm having trouble figuring that one out. Perkins is going to want big bucks next year. He just saw Brendan Haywood get 5/$55M. And Jeff Green won't? He just saw Travis Outlaw get 5/$35M, and Outlaw is nowhere near Green's league. Unless I'm mistaken, the Celtics had Bird Rights with Perkins, in that they could exceed the salary cap to re-sign him. I don't know if they have those rights with Green.

And yeah, Green won't come cheap, but I can only imagine that Danny feels more confident paying for him than he does Perkins. Again, I don't really like the deal at all, but I'm starting to see his reasoning. Hey, maybe they don't want to lock up Perkins long term because they want to make a run at Howard in 2012 (I can dream )

Charlotte, why trade Wallace!? He's 1 of the 2 decent players we have!

The random Sheed return rumors are back.
Troy Murphy seems like the most likely candidate for a Celtics signing

So, who do you guys think are the winners and losers for this year's trade deadline(and by deadline, I'm counting the entire week leading up to today, so the Knicks, Nuggts, Nets, and Jazz all count for their trades earlier in the week)?
I have to say the biggest overall winner has to be the Thunder, and it isn't because they are my team. I think they are the overall winners for making probably the most logical trades(for them) out of all the teams that did do trades. They may have dumped some talent(Jeff Green), but they also dumped 3 of their 4 expiring contracts, and grabbed two quality Centers, one of them proven at shutting down other Centers.
My other winners have to be Portland and Memphis. Portland and Memphis got away with highway robbery, if you ask me. They grabbed Wallace and Battier, respectively, for chump change. Hell, Memphis was able to convince Houston to take f***ing Hasheem Thabeet(plus a pick) for Battier!
As for the losers, oh man, there were quite a few losers this year. Until further notice, Boston is the biggest loser this year. They walked out today DOWN three players, and until we see what they'll do with their new found roster slots, they made the worst moves. Never mind the fact that they gave up the only real reason Orlando and Miami weren't threats to them.
Other losers for me were the Jazz and Bobcats.
It is too soon for me to say if the Knicks made a truly bad trade, so that is a wait and see thing for me.

I hate losing Battier. I loved watching Thabeet in college, and considering our starting center is 6'6", its nice to have size, but bleh. As a Grizzlies fan, I can tell you Thabeet is the worst NBA player I've ever seen (and remember Kwame Brown played for the Grizz.) He has size, but I swear at 5'8" I could out rebound him, seeing how he stands like a statue and stares at the ball every time it's shot. The fact that a top 3 pick got sent down to the D-League the year he was drafted says a lot. I'm glad to have Shane Battier back in Memphis, as he should've never left in the first place, true the Grizz got Rudy Gay for him, but he was the face of our franchise for a long time.

Deron Williams said at his press conference that he's not sure if he'll sign an extension with the Nets or not.

Slightly disappointed that Dallas didn't make a move for Steven Jackson, JR Smith, or any other decent SG/SF. But, I didn't want the front office to give up Caron Butler, Caron himself didn't want to leave, and the other assets Dallas has I also didn't want to see moved (minus maybe Haywood).
Also, unless Sheed and Troy Murphy find their way into Celtic jerseys soon... Boston may have capped themselves in the foot, ESPECIALLY since they held his Bird rights. I have no idea what's going on there. Does Danny Ainge?

WTF are you doing Boston? You know how we cleared room for signing Peja? We waived Steve Novak and traded our 4th string center to Toronto.
Who the hell are you clearing all that space for?
Also, the Mavs apparently tried to get Tayshaun Prince from Detroit, but the Pistons weren't interested in Caron Butler's expiring contract, and we aren't willing to give up anyone else.
I honestly think we're fine without making a move. Our moves were bringing in Stojakovic, and getting Roddy B back healthy. I'm happy with those.
