NFLPA just filed for decertification. Well, we're boned. Good thing I have Arena/Indoor Football, College Football, and Auto Racing to give a damn about.

NFLPA just filed for decertification. The NFLPA is going to lose a lot of the favor that they've gained within the general public over this maneuver. This could have stayed at the negotiating table and it could have stayed an internal issue between the owners and the NFLPA through March and April and May, and I think people still would have sided with the NFLPA. However, by taking it out of the negotiating room and into the courts, I think the Players' Association is going to lose a lot of public support. The quickest way to lose favor with the general public is with a lawsuit, when it seems as though mediation and negotiation is slowly making progress. Now they've brought this to the courts, and all that it's assured is that this is going to drag well into the summer. It's hitting me now more than ever that we may very well lose games over this issue. I always felt that the issue would be resolved before games were lost in September and October. Now? I'm not so sure about that.

I was hoping they wouldn't be as stupid as the NFLPA. If both the NBA and NFL have lockouts, the NHL is going to make out like bandits.....or maybe people will actually care about college basketball outside of March Madness for once.

I'm speaking as somebody that obviously doesn't know the situation as much as the people there are, but it seems the NFLPA is being a bit hard headed. The NFL said they wanted to split the difference and the PA said no, sometime down the line can't they put their differences aside and agree to something? Anything? Just my 2 cents, but that's what I get out of it.

Idiots.
You're doing record numbers with each and every game, you're by far the biggest sport in the land, and you're gonna risk all that by biting the hand that feds you via the fans.
Idiots.

Just my 2 cents, but that's what I get out of it. The owners are very much to blame for this. They walked away from the current (well, former) collective bargaining agreement last year, when it had three years remaining. The owners felt that they got a bad deal the last time the CBA was negotiated (in 2006), and they didn't want to get a bad deal again, so they pulled the plug on it. The NFLPA now looks terrible because they walked away from negotiations and brought this into litigation. No matter how they defend it, they are going to get hammered in the court of public opinion, which matters just as much as the court presided by David Doty. But the owners are equally to blame, because they could have had peace for another three years, but they felt that they weren't getting the financial compensation that they wanted from the last CBA, so they walked away from it last March.

So, the NFL, specifically their negotiator, Jeff Pash comes out and lays out what the NFL allegedly put on the table to the NFLPA. NFLPA's lawyer flat out says that Pash was lying
this is a mess.

Stern and Co are probably worse than the NFL. Not to mention that the NBA talks are further apart than the NFL is, and well, we see what the NFL talks led up to. It's not looking good for the NBA, either

Welp, I guess this is the hint that I should now start following Ovie and the Washington Capitals now. NFLPA, NFL owners, kiss my ass. That is all.
