"I hate Bret Hart" I mean...it'd make sense except for the fact that the two made up on screen. It'd be really douchey of Shawn to suddenly decide he still hates the man. No. That match was amazing. And I'm a guy that appreciates stuff like Misawa vs. Kawada. Would the match have somehow been better if there was 10 minutes of chin locks interjected? Not particularly, it was an average match as it was, but if any two guys OTHER than HBK and 'Taker had had that match, they'd have been ripped to shreds for having "no psychology" and just going "spot, nearfall, spot, nearfall" ad nauseum. The only other 2 guys who could get away with it on here is punk-bryan.

So, he isnt coming back to wrestle. Like I said, kneejerk reactions are fun, arent they? They did the same thing to just about everybody who even hints at anything resembling a comeback. The Rock was at one point in negotiations to work with the WWE for a couple of weeks, and everybody immediately turned that into some kind of full time return, headlining wrestlemania, etc. If Austin is even passively mentioned in a promo, some people automatically think they're planting the seeds for "one more match". There are still people who believe that Lesnar/Taker is going to happen, mostly because the dirtsheets refuse to let it go, even though almost everybody involved has said through legitimate outlets that it's not going to happen. We'll see the same thing with HBK. Every time something like this comes up, people will think it's leading to some big in-ring return. Some of it is wishful thinking/fantasy booking, but there are some (including on these boards) who are absolutely convinced that the Rock/Austin/HBK/Lesnar/whoever is returning and it's impossible to tell them otherwise.

I didn't think he'd come back to wrestle. I mean, the last couple of years he was just kinda...there. Once in awhile they'd have something cool for him like the Chris Jericho storyline (which was already done years before but this was so much better with Jericho playing the SRS role), but to see him & Triple H rehash the whole DX thing was really unnecessary and seemed forced.
Shawn needs to get back to work flipping burgers and super-kicking kids.

Honestly, if you were watching that match and going "Oh geez this match has no psychology" then you just may have issues. I mean, you've got two 40 + year old wrestlers at the tail end of their careers, basically killing each other in front of a roaring crowd and you're talking about a lack of psychology? Seriously? Besides, the match had tons of it. Psychology = getting fans emotionally invested in the match. My living room full of fans, as well as the live audience was definitely into the match.

Only one match would make it OK a one-night only in ring return:
Shawn Michaels vs Daniel Bryan in a 30-minutes Iron Man match at WrestleMania
Before that, we would have had Bryan vs Regal at Elimination Chamber

I'd rather see HBK vs. Punk but there's no way in hell I'd expect him to ever return just for that match.
Actually, I don't expect HBK to ever wrestle again. He just seems so serious about having retired. Like, the dude doesn't even watch wrestling now that he's gone. It just seems like he's glad to have it behind him. I'd be surprised to even see him come back in any role for more than a single night.

He'll be back in some form....He said all the things a guy who would be coming back and soon would say.
I'd be surprised if he didn't go into the Hall of Fame this year, but he may not if they truly go with a WCW theme like they are rumored to..........I'm betting HOF. Then we know what happens, "ONE MORE MATCH!" will be chanted. He may not do it right away, but eventually the pay day will be too big and he'll do it.
Whether it's one last go around with Taker or Triple H......it will happen......one day.

I could've swore I read/heard an interview with him a few years ago, where he said something along the lines of "I can't see why not" in regards to retiring, but coming back for one-off matches here and there. For a guy as good as Shawn is that would be ideal, I would think. But if his heart isn't in it and he wants to honor the match with Taker, that's totally understandable.
I just keep thinking about his last several months in WWE, being totally wasted with DX stuff. The feud with Legacy was good, but after the 2nd PPV match, that should've been it. They knew (right?) he was retiring the following year, yet, so many must-see matches never took place. It's really a shame that he and Morrison or Punk didn't have a one-on-one match. Or even Sheamus - why did Kane face Shawn on his last match on Raw, and not Sheamus, who was facing HHH? It still would've tied into everything, and nothing against Kane, but we've seen those two several times already. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's really too bad a lot of these "next generation" stars will possibly never have a match with arguably one of the top legends in wrestling, who could still wrestle VERY well.
