Will Chris Masters ever get a big push?
I find this guy highly entertaining and he's quite good in the ring.

I'm going to use this topic to make a terrible joke.
I really hope we get a Masters/Bateman match on NXT soon.

I've always liked the guy even in his roided up heel days. He was the face in his feud with Carlito if you ask me. That horrible entrance music isnt doing him any favors though. Give him back his poseable entrance theme.

This topic needs a then and now comparison... Before the Wellness Policy: After: His whole gimmick was his "incredible" physique. I don't know what he's supposed to do now. He needs a totally new gimmick.

He needs a totally new gimmick. I think it's unfair to say he doesn't have an incredible physique, infact, they could easily return him back to his original heel gimmick but just play up that he's a pure athlete now and that he doesn't need any other help other than his deadly Masterlock etc. It can be easily done, just needs the push.

This topic needs a then and now comparison... Before the Wellness Policy: After: Holy crap. Look at how much different his hair is in that second picute. It's like. 3 times the size! Seriously though, it does kind of piss me off that guys like Masters get their careers destroyed by a wellness violation, and guys like HHH not only get away with questionable extreme changes in muscle mass, but actively make fun of Masters on tv.

Give him back his poseable entrance theme. This sums me up to a tee. I was really pulling for Chris Masters in the Elimination Chamber back at NYR. If they built up the Masterlock again, maybe give him a PerfectPlex (MasterPlex??) saying he's"mastered the technique" or something.

Or change his gimmick to make him a Jogging enthusiast. he could talk about his love of foot racing and host his own event, the Masterrace.

I never got the appeal of the guy, maybe it was the fact that I think a full nelson isn't a believable finisher, or the fact that the guy, even in his heel days, always seemed bland to me.

I recommend for Masters to use the swinging neckbreaker-type full nelson, like young Ken Patera used to great effect. That would make him a hated heel and give his career the much needed boost.

His physique was his gimmick....that's not to say he has a bad form now but not nearly as "solid" as before. It's lost some of the "masterpiece" it held.
He's not all that great in the ring either despite Harley Race having a hand in his training.
I don't ever see him escaping the midcard.....I liked him for a while after he debuted but now I just don't care. He's lost his mistique and appeal. Not to mention he has 2 wellness violations of the 3 allowed....he really shouldn't be on the roster (and no neither should Jeff Hardy).

He still has a good physique though. There's really very few people on the roster that can match him (Zeke is the only obvious one that springs to mind that tops him to be honest, and honestly, Zeke looks like a freak more then "the perfect man" simply due to those surgically attached basketballs in his shoulders)
IMHO, Masters main gimmick has been his Masterlock. Saxton will be facing the Masterlock challange at some point I'm sure as he'll get cocky and claim to break out of it.
It wouldn't be too hard to build Masters back up. At the very least, NXT gives him something to do (And I feel with some of the enthusiasm he's showing, he's using all the screen time he can get to make Creative pay attention to him). And hell, the story of his match last night was that he had Ted beat and ready for the Masterlock (Biggest pop of the match), only for Saxton to get too cocky and ruin it.
All you have to do is point out how impressive he's been in the past. Keep doing Masterlock challanges, only this time, to take cocky heels down a peg or two. (Cody comes out and gives grooming tips and insults the crowd, Masters comes out and Cody begs him to not touch the face, Masters says he knows a way that his face can stay in one piece [Just don't let Stevie Richards tell you otherwise] and still settle their mini-feud ...... the Masterlock Challange). Everytime that they do it, like Striker go listing all the greats that couldn't break out of it: HBK, Flair, Slaughter, etc, etc. Maybe point out how he's been in World Title matchs against John Cena, once was in the feared Elimination Chamber and came a very close third place, beating HBK and Kane in the same match.
But yeah, just let him get screentime and slap the Masterlock on some annoying heels (Imagine if he does it on Del Rio's announcer because Alberto says something along the lines of "ha ha, your submission is no better then mine. I bet even Ricardo could break out of it!" The crowd would love that one.) THE KEY IS TO DO IT ON SMACKDOWN THOUGH, AND NOT SUPERSTARS/NXT EXCLUSIVLY

He has looked much, much better in ring second time round and seems to have the 'goofy face with an edge' act down too. I'd like to see him and Ziggler get a feud together.

I think having Chris Masters on NXT or Superstars is fine. He seems to get a decent pop which means people care enough to make noise. But I don't need to see him on RAW or SmackDown any time soon.
I was actually quite surprised to see WWE give him a second chance, but good for him. I hope he makes the most of it and saves his money....

Eh, its maybe because he has two strikes and they just don't want to invest in him. I think I heard somewhere that he got his job back because Randy Orton pulled for him or something.
I like the dude tho. I like his song too. He should of kept Eve, and did something with that.

I never got the appeal of the guy, maybe it was the fact that I think a full nelson isn't a believable finisher, or the fact that the guy, even in his heel days, always seemed bland to me. He's young still and has definitely improved in ring. As for a full nelson being legit, few moves are as dangerous in a real world sense, hence why it's banned in amateur wrestling. I like the fact that they treat it more as a strangulation move when he does it.
