Who remembers this? Seemed really random to me, especially when they turned him heel and gave him a new finisher and uber-generic theme music.
Anyone have any more fond recollections of this joyous time?

He was a top prospect, and up and comer for sure. With the right push and the older guys putting him over, he could have been big.

I remember the Conway pop he got at No Way Out 2006 when Matt Hardy unveiled him as his BIG surprise partner to face MnM for the Tag Titles.
That's about all I remember, really.

I remember JBL kept making jokes about how he only knows how to run a Bingo Hall or something.

Thanksgiving '06:
"Thanks for nothing."
His rebellion against the white man kicked off against uber-supremacist, Bobby Lashley.
'Nuff said.

Actually, I thought this was a missed opportunity. He could have worked as a heel if he'd had a reason for it that didn't relate to his ethnicity. He was exactly the kind of workhorse veteran who'd be solid and help young guys get over, like Goldust or Finlay. He'd have fit in great in WWECW, and maybe even gotten over there, too.

It was around this time I quit watching wrestling for about 3 years, to be honest I'm sure it had nothing to do with Tatanka, but in my revisionist history of being a wrestling fan, I'd like to think he played a part.

Which in and of itself was hilarious because of how they didn't actually challenge for the titles at No Way Out. It was a non-title match that they won, and then they lost the actual title match in a throwaway not long after.

It's only rivaled by Road Warrior Animal's run that same year. Still trying to figure out why they got rid of him.

It amazes me that they did the same awful heel turn with Tatanka in 2006 that wrecked his career in 1994. Actually it was worse. Before he simply joined Dibiase. In 06 he whined and complained about whitey holding him down, which given American history is an awkward way to try and turn someone heel.
He had some solid matches with Rene Dupree during this time, oddly enough.

I remember JBL kept making jokes about how he only knows how to run a Bingo Hall or something. I loved it whenever Tatanka would do the tomahawk chops and JBL would shout "BINGO!" for no reason. Sylvan Grenier was the guy on SmackDown, doing his Quebec Ambassador gimmick at the time.

A random run from a mediocre talent in the twilight of his forgettable career.
