Ok so putting a team together in Pokemon, going to train them to high levels and evolve them all of course. Im guessing Diagla might be in my team once i get the chance to get him.
Current team:
Lv.41 - Luxray Lv.39 - Infernape Lv.31 - Gastrodon Lv.28 - Staravia (Purely cause Staraptor looks bad-ass) Lv.24 - Stunky Lv.22 - Hippopotas
In particular l'd like to replace Stunky and currently have Machop, Murkrow and Carnivine in thier Lv.20s in my "box".
Suggestions, replacements, additions, discuss...
EDIT: Now General Pokemon Game thread

Stunky is awesome once it evolves... it gets flamethrower If it were me, I'd honestly switch Murkrow for Staravia. Then evolve Murkrow. Honchkrow eliminates the weakness to fighting (cause of the dark type.) , because of it being half flying, while being undamageable by psychic. Course, it still has the standard bird weaknesses (Ice, electricity, rock) But definitely has, I'd say more perks than Staravia. It honestly depends if you're raising these guys for competitive battling or not. Although, I'd say maybe in place of Stunky if you want to replace him, consider getting an Alakazam. While their defence is weak, they make fantastic special sweepers due to their high speed/Sp. Atk stats.

Not gonna lie. Your team is quite depressing to me lol.
Infernape - Can't go wrong here. Get Thunderpunch on it to trump his weakness to Flying & Water.
Luxray - Not the biggest fan of this PKMN. If you can't get an Electivire, you're gonna have to make do with it until you can get a Magnezone.
Gastrodon - Long story short, with a Hippopotas on your team, you don't need another Ground PKMN with a 4x weakness to grass. If you really need a Water, get Gyrados. It's ability, ATK stat, and movepool make it a much better choice than Gastrodon.
Staravia/Staraptor & Stunky - Honchkrow! It combines the types, leaving you an extra slot. Combine that with it's good ATK stat & Super Luck ability, it's a damn good choice.
Hippopotas - A decent PKMN. I never used one because I figured Garchomp would be better. Sure, it gets a 4x weakness to Ice, but it being part Dragon cancels its Ground weaknesses to Water & Grass.
For the 6th slot, can't go wrong with Lucario. Yeah it's cheap, but damn does this thing whip ass when trained right. Get that, sit back, and laugh at how ridiculously easy it is to plow through almost anything with it. Lucario is rare in that it can be either an effective Physical Sweeper or Special Sweeper. With the team you currently have, I'd go with Special.

There is a reason people want a starter Pokemon lineup of a Fighting type, a Psychic type, and a Dark type. Dark beats Psychic, Psychic beats Fighting, Fighting beats Dark.

Infernape can't get thunderpunch in diamond, he can only get it in platinum or gold/silver. Agree, but it works decently enough for the final boss. THIS! While lucario is good, I may also suggest a weaville for the garchomp at the end of the elite 4. Honestly, the hardest part about beating platinum was that garchomp. You do not know pain untill you have your entire team slaughtered by one cheap as hell pkmn. I think the only way I beat him was by buying full restores and pp stalling him out.

DEFINITELY invest in an Ice type for Garchomp. Trust me when I say this, you're going to need it. I'm going to recommend Froslass. Unique typing (Ice/Ghost, and it's always good to have a Ghost type in your team), good balanced stats, and a great movepool. Plus she's faster than Garchomp, which is a very good thing.
I say we should turn this into a Pokemon game discussion thread. Like the Black/White thread, but except it can be about any of the games.
With that said, I'm playing LeafGreen, and I can't decide between Pikachu/Raichu or Voltorb/Electrode as my Electric type. Thoughts?

Uhm. Playing Heart Gold. Team right now is:
Quilava Heracross Staraptor Gabite Exeggcute Tentacruel
They're all around level 35-40 right now. Any advice/tips for what moves or focus on stats and stuff? Or whatever.

So I decided to go with Voltorb since I've already used Pikachu in the past. Plus I'm sure Selfdestruct will come in handy for those dire situations. Just got into Lavender Town (God I love the creepy music), and now that freaking Ghost won't let me continue up the Pokemon Tower! My current team in LeafGreen: Wartortle Butters (Butterfree) Slash (Sandslash) Voltorb Fearow I also have a Meowth. but only for Cut and Flash usage.

Ahh, my balls are so swollen! Poke balls are swollen from catching too many Pokemon of course. Now I'd be dropping loads of them into action!

Meowth isn't that bad once it evolves into Persian because it usually has that ability that make them immune to paralysis.

Yeah, I just figured out how to continue after bicycling around for 5 minutes, freaking Underground Path. Now I got to Celadon City, and saved right in front of the Eevee Pokeball, which begs this question:
Flareon or Ninetales?
Or should I just wait for Magmar?

Now I got to Celadon City, and saved right in front of the Eevee Pokeball, which begs this question: Flareon or Ninetales? Or should I just wait for Magmar? Depends on who is on your crew. Flareon is a strong in either attack or defense, so if you don't have a guy on that team, use it for that. If you're lacking speed, then go with Ninetales, though Jolteon is big on speed as well. As for Magmar, I'm not a big fan of his, I wouldn't bother with him. I saw your team. Flareon. By the way, the ultimate Pokemon is Chansey (for the first generation games anyway, that I know). Why? Due to his high HP, it's easy to get him in a strong position if he has a certain moveset. Minimize, Soft Boiled, Sing (or some move to disable the opponent for a certain period) and Seismic Toss. Seismic Toss never misses, does a guarenteed 100 hp of damage, and if you have minimize and your opponent is knocked out, you can't be touched. So, put your opponent to sleep, minimize like crazy, then Seismic toss. And if you do get hit somehow, Soft boiled. You can't lose.

After another couple viewings, I think I'll go with Ninetales instead. I have a very good Attack/Defensive Pokemon in Sandslash (Base: ATT 100, DEF 110). Plus, Flareon doesn't learn anything with power until level 52, and I was never big into the whole Game Corner thing, so buying Flamethrower is out of the question. And what good is a high Attack for when it can barely learn any impressive physical attacks? But thanks for the advice, especially the Chansey one. I'll keep that in mind.

Ninetales is SO MUCH FASTER than Flareon and is a tough bugger to KO. usually when i evolve Eevee, i go with Jolteon as its supposed to learn Pin Missle and is faster than Flareon, but if you're in real need of a backup Water-type, you'd do well to just go with Vaporeon.

Yeah, Ninetails over Flareon. Ninetales is tougher but also has higher special stats naturally while Flareon could be a mixed sweeper (good physical and reasonable special attack) if it could actually learn f***ing Fire Blitz.

also, i've never tried the Chansey thing, but i know that i used to have a level thirty-something Clefable that was a total pain for almost every opponent it faced.
it knew Bubblebeam and Strength, among other things.

As far as Eevee goes, I always pick Jolteon in FireRed/LeafGreen. It learns Pin Missile AND Double Kick, making it invaluable against the Elite Four. I'm actually playing LeafGreen myself at the moment(along with White). So far, I only have one badge and my team is: Charmer/Charmeleon - lv 20 Stallone/Geodude - lv 17 Cosette/Paras - lv 17 Manx/Mankey lv 17 Sparkles/Pikachu lv 16 I'm imposing a challenge on myself to only use Pokemon that serve a purpose to me at the time. I taught Cosette Bullet Seed, so I have two Mons that can wreck Misty. Until she busts out that damn Starmie.
