I see no issues with #1 and #2. And Penn State should be higher.

Actually that was a guy who basically pulled a Steve Bartman in last year's ALCS, interfering with a Rangers player's attempt to catch the ball and thus scored the Yankees a run. Difference was.........Rangers still won despite that dirtbag. If I remember they not only won that game, it was one of the two HUGE ass beatings the Rangers gave the Yanks. I think it was a 10-3 final score.

It's a bulls*** list by a bulls*** writer. Philly fan detected ;D I would be curious of a worldwide list. Football (The "Not Soft" Version /Regal) has some rather rotten supporters out there.

I thought this would be about bad fan bases like the Phoenix Coyotes.

Seems pretty spot on to me. I figure Philly would be 1(and rightfully so) and WVU deserved their spot.

I'm not surprise that Lakers, Raiders, Habs, Yankees, Red Sox and Duke fans are here.

Yeah, being dedicated and knowledgeable is so effing terrible.
We're great wrestling fans, too.

Yeah, being dedicated and knowledgeable is so effing terrible. We're great wrestling fans, too. Its not about being knowledgable about it, its about being a jerk about your fandom....which is the reputation Philadelphia sports teams have.

Gotta admit, the Cowboys thing was spot on. I hate to say it, as some of us are rational, but the majority of the fanbase can be deluded as hell.

If giving a damn (and no one gives a damn harder than us- each loss and failure is pain) is being a bad fan, then I'm a terrible, awful, horrible fan.

This is just my opinion, but I honestly think the Yankees' fanbase got on the list just because they root for the Yankees. is there any other reason?

You can be a fan, just don't go overboard and end up being a jerk for it. Also, accept that you were beaten by better teams and move on. Just because you are a huge fan of the team does not mean that you can't be civil with the opposing fans.

There was nowhere to 'move on' to when four major sports teams could not win one championship from 1983 to 2008- an entire generation growing well into adulthood with nothing but failure. Only a Clevelander may be able to understand, on any level.

So glad I stopped putting so much of my identity in the accomplishments of millionaire athletes I have no reason to identify with. Sports is so much more enjoyable when I don't get depressed because people who make more in a day than I will in my life failed to win at the game they get paid to play for part of the year. The sheer obsessiveness and defensiveness of fanbases, and the complete disregard for other people that crops up here and there because of it, just undermines the fact that people are way too obsessed with games millionaire's play for the benefit of other millionaires.

Yankees fans should be higher IMO.
Look, I'm not talking Yankees fans from New York. Maybe they should be as well, I don't know many of them but I'm talking about that a Yankees hat has become a symbol of douche bags everywhere. Its usually tilted in some manner and bedazzled like a ten year old girl got a hold of it.
I'm not a fan of bandwagoning to begin with but it would seem to me that the Yankees are a symbol of that phenomenon, and by people I'm not typically keen on to begin with. I bet those guys wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between Mickey Mantle and Mickey Mouse.

Hahahaha. Good. Philly and Boston are the trashiest fans Ive ever seen at a game.
And yes, there's a good chance I've been to more games than most people extolling the virtues of their respective fanbase here.
A very good chance.
