That's actually a pretty scathing takedown...

Not to mention that he would have donated all of the proceeds from the song to the Human Rights Campaign, which obviously makes her seem like a huge hypocrite given the original context of the song. That's actually a pretty scathing takedown... Not particularly, since all it really does is talk about how she goes out of her way to wear ridiculous outfits.

alyankovic.wordpress.com/the-gaga-saga/Here's Weird Al's side of the story. Basically he gave in to all its demands and offered to give all proceeds from the single/video to charity but after hearing the song, it said no.

Meh, she's not the first, I think Weird Al was talking about Prince doing it too.
Gaga's still awesome.

Didn't Eminem do the same when Al tried to parody him?

That was damn awesome. Release it anyway, who cares if she can't take a joke.

alyankovic.wordpress.com/the-gaga-saga/Here's Weird Al's side of the story. Basically he gave in to all its demands and offered to give all proceeds from the single/video to charity but after hearing the song, it said no. I just read that and it's unbelievable. Al has a reputation as being such a nice guy (I can vouch for that personally) who bends over backward to respect the wishes of the artists he parodies. Al has been turned down before, but what makes this different is that she didn't just turn down a parody, she made him jump through all of these hoops for no reason. For her to actually make him go into the studio and record the song in order to decide whether or not to OK it, even though she had the lyrics, is just - wow. The last time I saw Weird Al in concert, he set up a table outside of the venue and signed autographs and chatted with fans until every last person was happy. Can you imagine Lady Gaga doing that?Al will be getting my money for CDs and concert tickets. Lady Gaga will not.

that song was great!! its not a horrible take down...at least theres no line of "its hard to bargle novle vouss with all these marbles in my mouth" that his Smells like Nirvana song had...this is just a song about her gimmic basically....i highly doubt this song would have hurt Gaga's Grace Jones, Klaus Nomi, Peter Gabriel, Goldust rip off gimmic that she has going on....its a song, if Weird Al isnt making fun of you then your not a musical artist....i mean Kurt Cobain LOVED smells like nirvana....Michael Jackson LOVED every parody al did of him...and Jackson was going to have Weird Al open for him on a tour in i think 88 but Al couldnt do it because he was shooting UHF.

I was under the impression that Lady Gaga was a person, so I wouldn't refer to her with the "it" pronoun because that's just bad form. (or at least I wouldn't if I didn't know that she apparently calls herself that now) It's too bad she didn't let Al release the song, though, especially after he went out of his way to meet all her demands. Maybe it would have been different if Al had just made another song about food and worked "Monster" into "Lobster".

I don't think I've ever seen a single thing Lady Gaga has done which hasn't made me dislike her. She is just a horrible person and role model IMO.

Screw it Weird Al just release the song on your CD or as a single. Its parody and that's protected by the constitution.

Look at that: My complete apathy for everything Gaga related has finally turned to active dislike. Didn't Eminem do the same when Al tried to parody him? Em let him make the song, but wouldn't let him make a video for it, which is a shame because the videos are usually even better than the songs themselves. And yeah, Prince has constantly blocked him from making parodies of his songs, too.

Ah, okay, never mind then. I'm a moron. Nope, it's the source that has gone nuts. Besides the LGBT community probably has a more appropriate term.

I'm not sure I would have approved it either. Its a cover of her own song making fun of her. Has weird all ever done that before?
I'm sure that Al's intentions were good, I feel like he's probably a nice guy, but it isn't the nicest thing he's ever done.
That said, Paul McCartney didn't approve Chicken Pot Pie and no one was outraged

She's not the first, and more than likely he'll still perform it live.
It still amazes me that even though he technically doesn't need their permission, he still asks for it. That's just a class move IMO
