I remember when Weird Al did the parody of "You're Beautiful" by either John Mayer or James Blunt (I forget who did that one) called "You're Pitiful." The artist LOVED the song but their label told Al that it couldn't be released. So Al just did what he did this time and released the song online for free.

If Madonna is such a huge influence on Lady Gaga, then Gaga should have let him release the song.

I've defended Gaga a lot because she really does have a beautiful voice (just listen to her on acoustics!) and I respect her so much for being outside-the-box... but this is f***ed up, plain and simple.

I don't agree with the OP calling GaGa a humorless bitch though, is that part really necessary?

I'm not sure I would have approved it either. Its a cover of her own song making fun of her. Has weird all ever done that before? I'm sure that Al's intentions were good, I feel like he's probably a nice guy, but it isn't the nicest thing he's ever done. That said, Paul McCartney didn't approve Chicken Pot Pie and no one was outraged Smells Like Nirvana, and the band loved it. Apparently, Paul McCartney just couldn't OK that parody with a clear conscience because he was a strict vegetarian. He didn't throw a hissy fit over it or anything, and both sides just agreed about not doing it.

Not something that's Citizen Snips-approved, dontcha know.... That said, she does come off as completely humorless in this tale. And rather mean-spirited to Weird Al.

Eh, I can see why Gaga wouldn't want a song specifically geared to be about acceptance of LGBT people to be hijacked for the purposes of a rather mean spirited parody. Got enough problems with people like the WBC trying to write new lyrics to her music without this. Not saying she's entirely blameless here, but it does seem like the wrong song to go after. I don't think I've ever seen a single thing Lady Gaga has done which hasn't made me dislike her. She is just a horrible person and role model IMO. Yeah, someone genuinely musically talented who worked their way up through the industry writing music for other people, and eventually gained success through it, then used that success to promote equality and take a stand against discrimination, while supporting multiple charities... What a horrible person. Why would anyone want to be like that?

I try not to get caught up in thinking that popular stuff stinks, but I really haven't found much Lady Gaga has done to be to my liking.
That she stands up for human rights is great, and I admire that. I have no issues with celebrities using their status to help others, and encourage it.
But hearing things like this and hearing about her wearing one of her stage outfits to her sister's graduation (to get more attention, I guess) is just weak.
But, hey, I don't listen to her stuff anyway, so it doesn't really affect me.

What a shame. The video could have been something awesome.

Gonna be honest, I at times enjoy Gaga, but she just took a nice nosedive in my personal opinions now. I'd be honored as hell to be parodied by Weird Al.

I don't think she's a bitch, she just takes herself way too seriously. Sean Penn would seem like Bill Murray in comparison.

Personally, I just don't like Weird Al anymore. I know a lot of people love him but I can't say I've been a fan of his since, I dunno, his Nirvana parody. I guess that's just the way I am with parody. I love "American Pie" and his cover of it was so godawful, imo, that I barely keep up with any of his releases.

Considering the song sounds a lot like Madonna's "Express Yourself", I guess she didn't wanna see a parody of a parody.

I'm sure that was just Al's way of joking about it

Didn't Eminem do the same when Al tried to parody him? IIRC, Eminem was fine with the song Couch Potato (a parody of Lose Yourself), but he didn't Al to do a music video for it. Al made fun of it on an AL TV special he did around the time Poodle Hat came out.

Not something that's Citizen Snips-approved, dontcha know.... That said, she does come off as completely humorless in this tale. And rather mean-spirited to Weird Al. To be fair, I called her something more BLUNT in other forums without censors and on my Facebook. I honestly see her a lot like I see ICP. A gimmick artist who builds an insanely devoted fanbase by playing to their insecurities and building a feeling of "family" in order to make as much cash from them as possible.

I love "American Pie" and his cover of it was so godawful whaaaat The Saga Begins was amazing, in fact the next time I attempt a Star Wars marathon I'll just listen to that song instead of watching The Phantom Menace. It's far more entertaining than the film. To be fair, I called her something more BLUNT in other forums without censors and on my Facebook. James Blunt? Why would you call her that?

Once again Gaga proves that she takes herself way too seriously.
She is a pop star. She isnt some great humanitarian, the voice of a generation, or any of that crap. She is a pop star. And yeah, someone else nailed it, she stands up for her target market's favourite charities.

Comparing someone to ICP is basically the biggest insult there is I also think ICP are talented. A couple hits with their gimmick is the gimmick, 10+ years of the most annoying people in the world loving you is talent
