I'll try those games out. Already played Valkyria, FFT for the PSP, Lunar and Crisis Core, but I'll go check the others.
A remake of Tactics Ogre is coming soon. Hooray for that. Got the bad ending long ago, and never got a chance to go for the good ending.

Started playing Hexyz Force in the PSP a few days ago. It's... pretty bland. Well, aside from the Persona games, since I plan to get them anyway, any recommendations for JRPGS for the PSP? I've heard good things about Jeanne D'Arc, don't know if that counts as a JRPG though. There's always the Final Fantasy remakes and Star Ocean remakes as well.

The fact that Level 5 developed it is enough to qualify it, I think.

Damn, I really am the only person who liked FF XIII. Nah, I was REALLY fond of it myself. It was a blast, I just hate the final boss...mostly because I'm STILL stuck on him and haven't finished the game yet.

The cutscene you get in FF XIII when you first enter Gran Pulse is seriously one of the most epic FMV scenes I've seen anywhere. So first you see all these creatures and think "man, this place looks kinda dangerous but cool", then it shows the Adamantoises and you go "holy f*** those things are huge, and I know I have to fight them sooner or later"... and finally the FMV gets to the part where one of the Adamantoises is grabbed by something that - as the camera zooms out really far - reveals itself to be some kind of a colossus thing that looks to be approximately the size of my hometown. I remember looking at it, actually getting chills and thinking "MOTHER OF GOD DO I HAVE TO FIGHT THAT THING "I actually haven't played the game very much after that, but I do know now that you don't fight the big guy. I guess that makes sense, because "hopeless" wouldn't even begin to describe THAT fight.

Combat & sidequest are fun at least. And courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality. I actually just finished Tales of the Abyss. I wish the main characters there were a bit more well-written, or the story itself to avoid so much hypocrisy and wall-banging. It's not really bad by any means, but it can be infuriating, with the party keeping Luke out of the loop and then constantly bashing him for not trusting them (or for keeping secrets himself). It's about time to start the first two Golden Sun games again, so I can lead them into Christmas where I'll finally be able to play Dark Dawn.

I guess that makes sense, because "hopeless" wouldn't even begin to describe THAT fight. That's actually one of the many things that disappointed me about XIII. I would have LOVED to have to fight Titan, in a series of fights against different parts of him (first you go after the legs, then arms, etc.). But no, all you get are a bunch of tedious fights with other monsters and an annoying mark to kill.

I haven't really noticed this before, but... uh, what in the hell is wrong with Vaan's chest? Even Iggy Pop's upper body doesn't look that disturbing, it's like some sort of... carapace or something.

Yeah Abyss had some flaws when it came to storytelling but it's my favorite Tales game. Poor Arrietta . Really liked the game from an antagonist standpoint, everyone but Mohs was just well done.

Got 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors for Christmas. Not an RPG I guess, but I really just wanted an excuse to lament the decline of video game manuals. The manual for the game is 11 pages long, and 1 is the table of contents, another is how to start the DS and game, another is a black and white art of the characters, and another is the warranty. From what I understand this is a character based game, and there is nothing in here about the characters.
I've seen similar things in RPGs, and it makes no sense to me. I miss the days of huge manuals with cool pictures and character information and such.

Yeah, most game manuals these days just aren't what they used to be, I guess not a lot of people like to read those nowadays. Oh well, at least all the Shin Megami Tensei games still have pretty decent manuals, with fusion charts and everything.

So I went to Gamestop yesterday with my whopping $20 in Christmas money. They had a bin full of PS2 games (no boxes or manuals) all for under $10, buy 2 get 1 free. I went through literally every single game (there was definitely 200+ games there) before settling on these 3.
Rogue Galaxy Virtua Fighter 4 Hitman 2
Got all three for $15, not bad at all. I started playing Rogue Galaxy last night and I love it. I'm already on the 3rd chapter, over 4 hours in. This is one of the rare games where I actually enjoy the long cut scenes. Thanks to whoever recommended this one to me.

Just got Persona 2 IS & Summon Knight Swordcraft Story 2 on my PSP. Both alot of fun and P2IS has aged surprisingly well.

I just picked up Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume for the DS. Was only $10 so I figured it was worth a shot. Going to play through it once I'm done with Unwound Future.

FINALLY! A Catherine gameplay teaser!
Yep, it looks like the worlds most messed up puzzle game.

Okay, so if that trailer is anything to go by, Catherine is basically a bunch of climbing puzzles mixed in with horror and mindf***ery (and boobs)?
...
Eh. Looks like I'm skipping this one even if it does show up outside Japan.

Don't worry, I heard Persona 5's in development too.
Been running through Shadow Hearts again, about to leave Shanghai. I forgot how clunkily Yuri moves in relation to Covenant, where the controller reception appears to be a bit smoother. It's a very minor issue anyhow, the game rules hard.
Was also thinking I'd play through these, and then maybe do the two Raidou Kuzunoha games, which are set pretty close to the Shadow Hearts series year-wise and have a relatively similar atmosphere (1913, 1914, 1929 for SH, 1931-32 for Raidou).
Can't wait for Dragon Quest VI DS (the SFC version's my personal favorite game in the series) and Radiant Historia next month.
