It doesn't seem to have any signs of stopping really. Obviously the WWE doesn't know who to assign to that position so they will probably leave it a mystery or just eventually drop it and pretend it never existed.
Do you think they are just waiting for a big name to come along who they can say it is? Or are they just giving up on the "mystery" completely?
It would be nice for it to have an actual ending but somehow I don't see it.
This actually makes me think...does wrestling really need an authority figure anymore?
Why can't we just have a Raw or Smackdown where the matches are already made and there is a line up to look forward to? Actually build your Raws better giving people something to possibly look forward to.
Sometimes I really hate the 'creating matches on the fly' thing with GM's. Are you telling me there was no scheduled main event until you came out and made the match?
This has bugged me since the attitude era.

Wasn't it supposed to be the Rock (but he changed his mind)?
The Rock had hinted at doing something with the WWE in the summer of 2009 or 2010 but seems to have backed out.

The Mystery GM will probably run until after Wrestlemania at least. At this point, they can either go with the obvious (Michael Cole) or use it for a big return/angle. I think at one point the Mystery GM was supposed to be a part of the Nexus storyline, but they either changed their minds or decided they liked an anonymous GM better.
I do think modern wrestling absolutely needs an on-air authority figure, at least televised WWE-style wrestling. All fans nowadays know everything is controlled backstage. Without an identifiable figure who is kayfabe responsible for all the matches, fans would just be left wondering who decided to put the face into a disadvantageous situation, etc.
It's not like in the old days when shows were presented as real athletic competition and the conflict came from the performers themselves. Everyone watches wrestling on the "meta" level of knowing backstage politics and booking run the show, even kids. You need the on-air GM figure to represent that.

Everyone watches wrestling on the "meta" level of knowing backstage politics and booking run the show, even kids. You need the on-air GM figure to represent that. I still think it can work without an on air personality. At this point everyone knows that the WWE backstage officials are kayfabe corrupt with the history of Vince, Shane, Steph, Bischoff, Coachman and everyone else. They can just say thats how it was booked and the WWE match-making comitee came to that decision. We don't need to know who did it for it to get over I think. It would be just like the current laptop, minus any involvement from a figurehead. People could still wonder who is booking these matches but in the end it can just look like backstage figures pulling strings sometimes. I just think having matches lined up and ready to go from the start of the show would also save a lot of time. Most of these main event matches occur because of a 20 minute opening segment. Just having the matches lined up and ready to go could possibly save 20 minutes of pointless mic time. Ever since Gm's and commissioners have gotten involved, we see a 20 minute promo opening the show every week in which said authority figure comes out...or emails...or tweets the match they wanna see. Just have the match booked and save us some unnecessary promo time where we all know it will end in a match being booked between the people involved in the segment. The only way i would be ok with another GM is if it is this man...

Next step in the Mystery GM angle will be just seeing the guys hands moving as he talks and forcing people to call him "The Powers that Be"

It's extremely over and has lead to the massive heat on Michael Cole as well as the GM computer itself. Not only that, but it turned Edge face.
I don't think he/she/it needs to go anywhere soon. It's been too good to promoting their characters and is a heat magnet.

they do not have a mystery GM. They have an anonymous GM.
they make matches on the fly because it allows them to do backstage segments and create reasons for people to wrestle. WWE doesn't want two hours of guys coming out to the ring, maybe cutting a promo and then having a match.

The GM is everything wrong with WWE at this point. The wrote an angle without a clue as to what the ending was.

I've said this a million times, and I'll say it again.
It's Hulk Hogan, and this is all tied into the THEY angle.

It's Linda...she is the laptop..all that stuff about her being robotic? they were closer to the truth then they ever thought..seriously though if they don't end it at Wrestlemania then I see it continuing for a good year or two longer.

I'm pretty certain it's Tiffany. She had GM experience and was newly available when the GM first appeared. Her release and comments in interviews and on twitter were all calculated red herrings to distract us from the truth.

I honestly don't think we ever have to know.
I'd love to see Vince return, the GM starts whining and Vince picks the laptop up and breaks it over his knee. Then mutters "freaking computer nerds"
And it's never mentioned again.

I hope it's Goldust. Sure, it makes no sense at all with how the annoymous GM is but, Goldust as an on screen General Manager would be fantastic. He'd be up there with Mick Foley in terms of hilarity
