Barrett finally found the gold Kryptonite, hm?
Seriously, I hope Cena's OK.

They need to play this up if it's true. Get Cena ready for his return already. Have CM Punk and Nexus come out Monday and play footage from the house show of Barrett taking Cena out. Not necessarily show too much of it, but just enough to get Barrett his heat back and make Barrett/Cena 2 a real money maker when he returns. If it turns out that Barrett really did put WWE's top draw on the shelf with a botched finisher, there is no way in hell he's getting a push out of it.

I wish Cena all the best in recovery if reports are true. As for Barrett, I wonder what this would result in?

True, but never doubt WWE's ability to look the other way if they're high enough on someone. Look at Rey Mysterio earlier in the year. He accidentally breaks Undertaker's face, gets his spot in the Fatal 4-Way title match and wins the thing.

How the hell does one hurt a knee taking the Wasteland? well, I imagine one option is that Barrett pulled to hard while throwing him down putting pressure on the knee as he was just starting to execute the move. The other is not enough force used on the move to flip Cena to his back, resulting in Cena landing on his side with his knee hitting first.

Probably a ligament or tendon tear (my hunch) during the move. Hopefully not to serious.

It could have been an awkward landing with Cena getting his lower leg caught under the rest of his body, that much mass coming down on a knee that is either bent too far or bent in the wrong direction could do some damage.

Just because Cena got injured during his finisher doesn't necessarily mean it's Barrett's fault.

I'll wait until the next update to say anything, but things don't look so good right now.

UPDATE: Our correspondent Rick Gasper sent us a follow-up email with these details, including that Cena's leg is what appeared to get injured on impact from the Wasteland finishing move: The Main event was a steel cage match between John Cena and Wade Barrett. A back and forth match with Wade Barrett trying to get out and Cena stopping him. After about 20 minutes, Wade gets Cena in the Wasteland and puts Cena on the mat. Everything seemed to stop. The trainers came to the ring and were talking to both Wade and John. All the sudden John throws a Lebell Lock type of hold (it was not the STF) and Wade tapped out. Wade left the ring rather quickly. The announcer came out and brought the mic to John. John said, “I got a little beat up tonight and if I need to take some time off I will but I will not be carried from the ring.” The injury appeared to be to one of his legs. He wasn’t putting any weight on it. We couldn’t tell if was a hip injury, or something to do with his leg. pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/WWE_News_3/article_46382.shtml

Would Barrett be to blame, then?

There isn't any mention of awkward landing.

Seeing that type of move, maybe he dislocated something? I know it's impossible to tell, but that'd be my guess. That'd probably hurt like hell too.

An injury to his side is most likely since he was hit with wasteland.
