Most likely newz, but here's a little item from the Torch: PWTorch has learned that TNA is considering scrapping the X Division, which has been part of the company since its inception.
There is no official timetable for when the Division would be scrapped or if TNA will phase it out over time in 2011.
Caldwell's Analysis: There are two ways of looking at this. The X Division and its wrestlers have progressively been reduced to opening-match acts and the belt has little value. So, it could potentially give wrestlers slotted in the Division a fresh start without being pigeonholed as "X Division high-spot artists with no character development."
The other way of looking at is being pigeonholed actually gave wrestlers "of a certain size" a measure of job security because they filled a specific role on the show, even if the role was an opening-match act. Without that specific role to fill, it removes job security for certain wrestlers.
It will be up to TNA's writing team to actually develop wrestlers "of a certain size" without depending on the soon-to-be-defunct "X Division" label to give the wrestlers the slightest bit of marketability. pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/TNA_News_1/article_46751.shtmlInteresting strategy if true.

I remember this being reported a few years back, too. I wanna say 2008 or 2009, before Suicide came in.
Also, looking at the spoilers, if they were gonna stop it, it ain't gonna be anytime soon.

I wouldn't be too heartbroken to see it go.
If they brought it back proper - great, but as it is, I could do without it.

No way this would ever happen. TNA knows how important the X-Division is to their core fanbase. They honestly wouldn't be stupid enough to scrap it.

Just read somewhere else that TNA want to break up generation me and the MCMG to boost up the x division. I hope that's not true. Because I can't see GenMe as singles stars. I also feel the MCMGs would be better staying together as a team then going solo at this point. Also if this happened the only teams left would be Beer Money, Ink Inc and the comedy team of EY & OJ. So it would be a really bad idea to break up GenMe and the MCMGs. As for the X division it does need some more talent but if it did get phased out I wouldn't be overly upset about it.

The last three X champions were Lethal, Robbie E, and Kazarian. Those guys are not "small" even by wrestling standards. I agree, just combine the belt with the TV title and move on.

It's interesting, especially since while TNA hasn't focused much on the X-Division in recent months, they still run that commercial before Impact talking about how the X-Division is redefining professional wrestling, featuring stars like Curry Man, Sonjay Dutt, and Homicide.
I think getting rid of people like Daniels and Petey Williams the year before hurt it a little bit. I guess we'll see in the coming weeks and months.

GenMe just signed on for another year so to break them up means they could have just signed the one they were gonna push and did pay for play on the other one.
X-Div scrapped alltogether? Doubt it. It has not been the marquee draw they started it as because they signed more notable and known faces and did not need the draw that the X-Div was for them in the bginning. That is not a knock on the div but lets be honest with ourselves for a moment, aside from a couple of programs(fueds not shows) the X-Div was not the sole draw for any TNA event. The only ones that come to mind are the three way Joe/AJ/Fallen Angel and the original format of Destination X. They were smart to use it sparingly because week after week month after month of those type of matches steals heat from the main events(tell me I'm lying and you are not considering the order of march on a wrestling card)You would have desensatized the audience to big moves and selling main event or upper mid-card guys spots. WWE learned this in the late 90's and early 2000's and started using the tried and true practice of stacking one hardcore or brawl, one spot fest, one ladies match, one or two big tags and a solid Main event. Because if you had a TLC match one after another the workers run out of spots and the crowd demands more of what you cannot provide. TNA did this by de-emphasising the X-Div. it will never go away but to expect the div to be featured for a full hour every week is foolish IMO

Hey! I predicted this in the "TNA Predictions" thread!
But seriously, if TNA wants to lose their fans who have been with them since the start, then go ahead and get rid of the X-Division. But keep it around, and They'll stay, no matter how many threads they make on how they're "done with wrestling" because of TNA.

Well, there isn't really an X Division as such. The smaller wrestlers have a few even matches against each other, and occasionaly get fed to some big wrestler. That's it. There's no real distinct identity or group mentality among them. It'd be hard to notice the difference. We didn't even have a World X Cup.

TNA is already phasing out the X Division anyways. Most of the standouts are either fired or moved out the division. The guys who are left are presented as no good enough to hang with the big boys. Robbie E lost to RVD in 2 minutes and was presented as a joke. Lethal got dominated by Abyss last week. Kaz is the Paul Roma of Fortune. Main reason he got the X title because Immortal didn't have anyone besides AJ who fit the mold. So besides the missing once again Amazing Red, who's left? Everyone else is part of a tag team.
The once innovating X Division is no longer innovating. They wrestle the same style as everyone else. Styles vs Williams was more of a X match than Robbie E vs Lethal. Getting new blood would a good first step. And presenting the wrestlers as main eventers instead of jobber fodder is another one.

- Don’t be surprised if the tag teams of the Motor City Machiguns and Generation Me get split up. Current discussions have them moved to the X-Division to improve the division.
