On tonight's iMPACT, The Pope seemed very interested in buying 100 Pit Bull's, "For Children." Am I the only one that gets the feeling they might go for him being a dogfighter, or will this just be a harmless fake out?

I don't follow TNA very often but I did remember Impact was on and turned to it right as this segment went on.
Why was that even there? Is Pope a heel?
If this is a dogfighting gimmick...then why? What purpose will this serve in the long run?
What is wrong with wrestling creative???

That scene really pissed me off. Mostly because I'm tired of pit bulls being made out to look like they're not good pets.

I doubt it will turn into his gimmick but it was a pretty tasteless joke to make simply to imply that Pope is a less than moral guy.

Any pet sufficiently pushed to the breaking point will become dangerous, it's not just them. Doesn't help that this isn't going to draw anything but negative press for them, it wasn't funny, and it does nothing for Pope. It's like they're trying to get in trouble. Who does this benefit?

Minute I saw he was trying to get pitbulls I thought Michael Vick. Thought it was pointless & in bad taste.

I don't think the Pope is going to be a dog fighter. But I do know his character is getting Abyss'd. All the goodwill built up by Dinero is being ruined by wack ass booking.

Just another sad attempt at TNA at being "adult," "edgy," and "controversial" that results in the collective fanbase likely responding with a giant, "WTF, okay, can we see wrestling please?"

They could just be making him more ghetto.
Give him a viscous dog and a Kimbo-esque bodyguard backyard brawler make him easier to connect with the fans, or at least the fans with a skewed vision of what ghetto is.

I doubt it's going to be his actual gimmick. Just with that, and him taking all the money to a strip club a few weeks ago, and all that, they are just trying to show that his "congregation" is a scam.
And apparently with the way the announcers talk after all these videos, someone is following him and filming his activities. Meaning it will probably get "GTV'd" and dragged on forever and then never revealed who it is.

Minute I saw he was trying to get pitbulls I thought Michael Vick. Thought it was pointless & in bad taste. Awfully presumptive since no legitimate reference to dog fighting was made.

You can sure as hell make an inference from it, though. Tons of subtext there.
As a dog lover, I really hope TNA isn't actually doing something like this. I would think "They couldn't be this tasteless," but then it's professional wrestling.
And if does become a dog-fighting angle, it actually makes me grateful for the TV-PG rating in WWE. Because if this is what passes as "adult" and "edgy" (something like it wouldn't be an uncommon angle idea during the Attitude Era), then I'll take kiddie-pandering any day.
