Gotta admit, and it takes a lot for me to say this because I despise Jarrett, that it's actually been a fun angle by TNA standards. It just better go somewhere and end with Samoa Joe beating the crap out of him, I'm still pissed off at how one-sided their feud was in the favour of f***ing JARRETT.

Looks like Angle's gonna get the last laugh, not Joe.
Sorry Dude.

You know, this is the perfect opportunity to attempt a little crossover with Spike's pre-existing UFC/MMA audience. I don't really follow it, but does Spike still do Ultimate Fighter, or have any sort of weekly MMA show going on right now? They could start poking some fun at Jarrett's half-assed attempt at what he thinks is some kind of MMA thing, or take offense to how he's acting with it, or whatever, and send a couple of big name UFC guys in to take care of him. Have them walk in side-by-side with Angle, and voila, you have mainstream(ish) crossover appeal AND Angle's return all in one fell swoop.

Ok, ok, I see. I guess I was out of the loop on it being tongue in cheek. Honestly, I have never seen what led up to him becoming supposed mixed martial artist. Guess I was making the wrong assumptions here. It's just that, every time I turn on TNA, the MMA challenge is what I end up bumping into... and it always seems totally serious. I figured it was just another case of Jeff Jarrett booking himself to look like he's something he's not, like when we were supposed to believe that he was a championship-caliber wrestler. If it's supposed to be taken as a joke, then mission accomplished, I suppose. Sorry, but it looks like I always saw the competition out of context, rather than from beginning to end.
Oh well, it was fun to rant for a minute, anyway.

They're really doing a good job with it, the segments are helping get the character over and I said it in another thread, but it's very contemporary. I think there are people who want to be thought of as "tough guys" because they had a bit of MMA training, and Double J is a good example of that guy.
It also shows something that professional wrestling concepts used long ago are still relevant today, you just need to add something from society today to make it up to date, and this gimmick is a good example of that. You have a heel, he thinks he's something he's not, he geniunely believes it, and the heat comes from there.

I don't like the gimmick mainly because I don't like Jarret. But I do like the concept of ripping on people who think they are tough because they know basic MMA (Not realizing that if you are a jack of all trades you are a master of none). I just don't like the fact that its Jarret doing the gimmick I just don't like Jeff Jarret he is over the hill.

I can't really blame you for jumping to that conclusion though, since Jarrett likes to think of himself as HHH, John Cena and Hulk Hogan combined despite being born a midcarder.

There is not one blackbelt/ wrestling fan that didn't mark just a little bit at JJ tapping out kids. It reminds me a lot of some of my students who think because they're "heavyweight" and wear Tapout, they trump someone who's made studying martial arts/wrestling/whatever their life's passion. Plus...who doesn't wanna tap out some brats, eh?

You go 'over the hill' at 40. You go over the hill when you go over the hill. Age is irrelevant.

You go 'over the hill' at 40. Then that means HHH is over the hill but age is never the reason people don't like him.

Man, the crowd sure is into wanting to fight him. Especially that one fat guy up front. If he was a plant, they definitely got their value from him.

the segment last week with Red's brother finally brought some action to it, and JJ finally got his ass handed to him after so many weeks
