Honestly I don't even care about the rest of what he said, it's just the fact that he, jokingly or not, threatened to stab his child for being gay.
HIS CHILD.
You just don't do that.

The thing about the "is it a choice or are you born that way" argument people fail to see. Even if it IS a choice, it's a choice that is still none of your god damn business, and no reason to think less of someone. Some people like to sleep with same sex partners. Words cannot describe how little that effects me. That's always been my opinion as well. What's it to me and how does it effect my life if someone "chooses" to be gay/sleep with someone of the same sex? Who gives a crap. The thing about stabbing the son though - reminds me of my uncle, the supposedly tolerant and accepting man, saying how all gays should be hung by the neck till dead. Yeah that's tolerance and acceptance alright. Jackass.

Again, it all depends on the context. I'm sure comedians have said worse, but since it didn't involve any "minorities" (I really don't like that word, because I think of everyone as an American, unless it's like...not happening in America) or LGBT folk or something no one made a big deal out of it, because people understood it for what it was: comedy. Nothing's sacred, man. Am I condoning this? Nah, but I'm not condemning it either. It's as I said before, I need to get all of the facts before I come to a conclusion and take a side.

As it stands, we at least know he's guilty of terrible stand-up.
I'm not much of a Lisa Lampanelli fan, but when she makes jokes about the LGBT community, you can tell it's tongue-in-cheek. Tracy's gay routines just sound angry.

"Tracy then said he didn’t f***ing care if he pissed off some gays, because if they can take a f***ing dick up their ass… they can take a f***ing joke."
While ridiculously insensitive, tasteless and indicative of a a complete idiot, this line had me laughing.
But if I could be serious for a minute, leave this clown to his own opinion. Tracy Morgans opinion on homosexuality is of no worth to me whatsoever. Its sad that this kind of attitude can be applauded like that.

That stuff about his child and stabbing him was way over the top.

Either this guy is abusing drugs or he's got serious mental problems because this is not the first time he's said something way over the top.

Knowing Tracy Morgan's stand up...it's for shock value. He's even used the exact same "If gays can take a dick in the ass, they can take a joke" line before. People need to calm down and realize that ANYTHING a stand up comedian says, in the middle of a standup routine, should be taken with a grain of salt. I'd like to see video of his "tirade". If he's saying all that stuff, and sounding angry, or normal.. yes, it's a tirade. If he's using his "Tracy Morgan delivery", and you know exactly what I mean when I say that.. it's just part of his routine, and people need to lighten up. Hell, for god knows how long black comedians have used making fun of white guys as a crutch, and I usually laugh along with it. Would people stop with the "You need to calm down" thing. How do you know what people need to do?

So apparently he has the right to be offensive...
But we don't have the right to be offended?

Being gay is as much of a choice as being homophobic.
Yes that can be taken two ways, but I believe it to be true... whichever way it actually is.

Is it ok to say that I hope he gets stabbed on the way home from one of his 'comedy' gigs and bleeds to death on the street? And this is just a joke! It's not offensive at all, it's just dark comedy! You know, dark humour because his skin is dark! But being black is a choice, and black people have been made fun of before, so they can take it.
Now, just to note: The above is not a representation of my actual feelings, but a parody to show the level his 'humour' is on to those who claim that people here are too sensitive about gay issues. I apologise in advance if anyone took the above paragraph seriously and was offended. That's more than we'll get from Mr. Morgan.
I quite like George Takei's take on the matter: "In stand-up rant, Tracy Morgan threatened to kill his son if he were gay. I suspect his dad is next for naming him "Tracy.""

So apparently he has the right to be offensive... But we don't have the right to be offended? That is what I always scream at the people who cry the "you're just being too pc" bullshit. People have the right to express themselves; they do NOT have the right to dictate my reaction to it.

He said he would stab his son if he was gay, that gay people are a mistake, and that gay people need to stop complaining about being bullied because bullying is nothing to worry about. I'm failing to see where the jokes are.

Hold up?
People honestly think he is being serious about wanting to murder his son if he was gay? Really? To me that line screams "this is me being insanely over the top with this schtick, don't take anything I say seriously."
iono, maybe that's just me.

If this how he feels then he shouldn't apologise. Look, he's dumb and ignorant and PROBABLY gay himself but he can say what he wants. It's his right and you have. Right to be offended and shocked. He said some awful stuff but he's allowed to have that opinion.
