I still think that this is honestly not a bad idea.
If I could choose whose hands to put the reboot into, I'd probably choose McFarlane, simply because he does have such heavy respect for the material.

The Flintstones are a beloved television family, so Seth mcFarlane should stay as far away as possible from them.

I would agree, if he didn't have as much of a respect as he does for the original material. If you have that much respect for something, you won't want to screw it up, so I think it is alright in his hands.

'Seth McFarlane rebooting The Flinstones'
I've heard this story before but honestly, it sounds like something a website would run on April Fools Day.

Seth's a Hanna Barbera fanboy (which is evident by the art style he sues), so I don't except his version to necessarily fall back on Family Guy-style cutaways and musical numbers. As long as the content doesn't go past TV-PG, I'm optimistic.

McFarlane's involvement aside I still think Flintstones is easier to reboot than say The Jetsons

I'm optimistic, if only because reboots can be done well. Look at Mystery Incorporated, which is easily the best Scooby Doo series I've seen.

Oh HELL no! No, just, no. And not just because it is Seth being the executive producer of a Flintstones reboot that has his style of comedy thrown into it, but because this might be what kills American Dad! for good. Fox, unless they expand their Animation Domination block, only has space for 4 shows, and we know two of them will be The Simpsons and Family Guy. This means, not including Bob's Burgers and the upcoming Napoleon Dynamite cartoon, Seth has 3 series fighting for the remaining two perennial spots. We can establish that one of those is, for now, this Flintstones reboot, meaning it is going to be between The Cleveland Show and American Dad! for which one gets the final perennial slot. And odds are, it won't be the only consistently good show Animation Domination has had the last few years, damn it...... The only way Seth can save this is if the comedy they use in this Flintstones reboot is like American Dad! and not like Family Guy....

If you have that much respect for something, you won't want to screw it up, so I think it is alright in his hands. M. Night Shyamalan said he had great respect for Avatar: The Last Airbender. I think we all know what came from his "great respect". I'll give Seth the benefit of the doubt, but just saying, just because someone says they have great respect for something doesn't stop them from f***ing it up.

Like or dislike Seth, I'd like to think he had more credibility than M. Night.

Personally, if this meant the end of American Dad, I'd be ok with it. I don't hate it, but it doesn't consistently make me laugh the way FG and CS do, plus I generally find Roger to be the least likable of all of the MacFarlane antagonists (the other two being Stewie and Rallo).

I like American Dad best. Personally, Cleveland is the expendable one to me, or at least could be moved to another night.

I think Seth will do a good job with this thing. Many people forget that he was an animator and writer for Hanna-Barbera and was involved with such shows as Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, Dexter's Laboratory and I Am Weasel. So he'll treat the property with respect and not turn it into Family Guy w/ dinosaurs.
I do hope this doesn't mean the cancellation of American Dad, but another network like Adult Swim could pick it up.

I'm very leery about this. Not that I have a problem with tasteless comedy, but The Flintstones is an iconic brand that needs to be handled with reverence. As long as it's kept tasteful and in the spirit of the original, okay...if not, no thanks.
