Really? No thread? Maybe it's late and I totally missed it. Saw it twice today, once in IMAX, once normal DLP. And damn, that movie was a blast and a half. Action sequences were amazing, car sequences were good of course, and the story...was...actually pretty competent. But man. Shit got real once I saw the post-credits ending. If you haven't seen it yet, don't read the spoiler, but... {Spoiler}Holy shit Letty's alive somehow and pulling heists.

The FF franchise is Douchebag Cinema at its finest but damn if I don't love it. Can't wait to see this.

Did not see that in the credits as I left as soon as the movie ended. My mistake I guess

I enjoyed that at one point The Rock did a kip up into a forearm smash.

Probably no way I'll see this (not really my genre - not that I judge people who're into movies more about action than plot, but that sort does nothing for me), though good to know people are enjoying it. Not seen the first three, and the fourth I have a bit of a story on - in my senior year (they did this for my junior too, will get back to that in a second) the high school had a post-prom thing at the movies where you could see two things for free. First one I saw was Wolverine, then I went with the fourth movie next. I ended up walking out and heading home just as the big race was starting - it was like 1 AM, I was tired, and the movie was making no attempt whatsoever to explain what the hell the plot was.
If curious the previous year I'd seen Iron Man and Made of Honor. Yeah, the previous year won out over that one. Hell, Made of Honor was surprisingly fun and creative for what looked like a generic romantic comedy.

I can't think of the series without thinking of this, or the "directed by M. Night Shyamalan" one.

Most of these actors are ass terrible by themselves, but together, they are tremendous. Fast Five was amazing. The Rock was PERFECT in his role and that fight scene with Dom was great! The action scene during the climax was unbelievable.
Can't wait for Fast & Furious Forever or w/e they're gonna call #6, the final movie in the 2nd trilogy.

Film five movies with someone, hopefully you have chemistry. The alternative would be pretty abysmal.

I was thinking that they would feel tacked on and wouldn't have chemistry with anybody except Paul Walker. Glad that wasn't the case. The 2 actually play off of each other pretty well.

On an aside, when I see "Fast Five", I just think it sounds like the best card game ever.

color me shocked that this movie is getting such good reviews. I figured it would be mindless entertainment, and make an assload of money, but I didn't see it being critically acclaimed.

Only thing that really bothers me is that Tokyo Drift (which I thought was a good movie) is being totally Highlander 2'd.

It may not be a completely bad movie, but it has almost nothing to do with the core franchise. All it has is Han & a cameo from Diesel at the end. Outside of that, it doesn't really have any connection to the other core characters. It kinda has to be phased out now that the franchise picked back up. I suppose they could use Han to bring in Sean, and then Sean to bring in Twinkie, but damn that's a lot to do in one movie, especially when it appears that... {Spoiler}Letty and her "death" will be the focus of Final Fast.

It is kinda weird due to the anachronisms with the cars, like the 2006 era Evo IX and all, but eh. Japan's tuning scene is IMMENSE. It's not improbable that they all rolled in older cars that they'd been working on for years, y'know?

I think it's mostly so Justin Lin can have an excuse to shoehorn Han further into the franchise, since Han's his personal Mary Sue. Han's one of my favorite characters, believe me. In TD he was the epitome of chill.
