This is it. Four months. 14 competitors. Two still standing. One FAN Idol Final. For this round, each of you will be selecting SIX songs, one for each active judge and one for me. These, combined with the public vote, will determine who wins FAN Idol and who will go home in second place. Let's start with the categories: Pegasus Warrior's Category: The False Finish! For your opening category, you will select a song that features a false finish, or a song that "ends" but picks right back up afterwards.
Gus Richlen's Category: Metal of the New Millennium! In your second category, you will select a Metal song that has been released from 2000 to today.
Baldy Kendrick's Category: Bleeps and Bloops! For this category, you will select *another* piece of video game music; we've already seen what you can do earlier with this, but this time make it extra special!
CageKing's Category: Glee! In your fourth category, you will select a song from the television show Glee. One note here: if the song's already been picked earlier, you cannot use it again even though it may be from another artist/actor/whatever.
Widow's Peak's Category: Don't Quit Your Day Job! For your fifth category, you will pick a song that came from a person normally known for acting.
PKSandman's Category: Free Style! Once again, like last round, you will have one free choice of song that you want to send in. Those are your six categories. The seventh, of course, is the public vote. Listed below are all the songs that both Sudden Rush and Junkenstein chose during this season. Former competitors, general public, you will choose who has the better library of selections for this season. The winner of that category will earn an extra point. The competitor that earns 4 points first will be declared the winner of FAN Idol VI. With that, Rush, Junkenstein, GET TO IT! The song selections: Sudden Rush's Songs: Jet- Are You Gonna Be My Girl? Arctic Monkeys- Brianstorm The Zutons- Valerie John Denver- Take Me Home, Country Roads Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Heads Will Roll Datarock- Fa-Fa-Fa Soweto Gospel Choir with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra- Baba Yetu Death Cab for Cutie- I Will Follow You Into the Dark The Velvet Underground ft. That was the most difficult Sing-Off I've ever seen in any of the 6 seasons. Radiohead, they're totally one of my bands, but I was also stuck on what I consider one of the greatest songs ever recorded: Falling Slowly. I wanted to give credit to Radiohead, but my job as judge is to pick the better song at the moment (even though Just is so so so so high on my playlist) and I had to give the nod to Falling Slowly, just because it's part of the game.
J was my favorite overall library of song picks throughout the game.
Sudden Rush, you're baaaack! Great job! I know you love this game, so it's great to see your working your way back to the finale. You crushed me with Falling Slowly. There may be only a handful of songs out there that could've toppled that one for me personally. Your ecletic taste in music is going to work well for you once again in the finale, I just know it!
Junkenstein, been meaning to say this for a while, but DOGGONE IT I'M GLAD YOU'RE IN THE FINALS! It's been overdue, man. You've had some great runs in the past only to be tripped up by one solitary round. I've always been sad to see you go out in the past. I was glad to see your strong finish in the last couple of rounds and bringing your big guns out when it mattered most. Stay true to your style, man. It's been working well! Well-deserved spot in the finale for you!

Alright, my songs for the finals have been sent in. Some really interesting categories I thought, a couple of them were tricky to find stuff that fit them, but overall I'm pretty happy with my picks.
And pegasus, thanks a lot of the kind words man! I do tend to stick to my own style with this game, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Luckily this time round it seems I've done something right lol. As an unashamed music nerd, this is such a fun and well-organised game to be a part of, all credit to the other players, the judges, and especially PKS for putting it all together.
Best of luck to Rush and let's make it an awesome final!

While we're still waiting for one contestant's songs, I just wanted to remind you to vote for who you think has the better song selection as we have just a few hours to go on that vote.

J, like Peg, you also had my favorite set of songs. I feel rotten for making it over you, after my abysmal round three showing. I was kinda hoping that there would be a few free choice type of themes for the finale to make up for that, with some fine songs, but this actually isn't so bad. Looking for songs this round opened me to a lot of cool music. I'll have my stuff in tomorrow. I had to really think about this and find time. * BTW here are the sing off songs that both Junkenstein and I had used, which aren't on our lists. Junkenstein: Ryan Adams - "La Cienega Just Smiled" www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOuH_iScVroThe Cure - "Boys Don't Cry" www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GkVhgIeGJQ&ob=av2nDonovan - "Atlantis" www.youtube.com/watch?v=leI7sfmipuISRVS: Nirvana - "All Apologies" www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWmkuH1k7uAAnd this was the video I had for Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova - "Falling Slowly" that I used: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_a-N560Dfdc(I'm glad you liked it Pegasus. It's one of my all time favorite songs.)

One of the seven points are now confirmed. Winning the public vote, by a tally of 6-5, is Junkenstein.
Junkenstein needs to win at least 3 main categories to win FAN Idol VI, where Sudden Rush still must win 4 to do so.

Songs Sent. Waiting on Confirmation. Junkenstein, remember when we were in the bottom two with each other early on, in the last competition after scoring horribly together as partners? (Then subsequently being eliminated after the other?) It's just really cool/funny to be in the finals with you now, thinking about that. For some fun here were the songs that landed us in the bottom 2: Shakespeare's Sister - "Stay" www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvisRBWnewsReplacements - "Bastards of Young" www.youtube.com/watch?v=fl9KQ1Mub6QI actually hadn't really listened to Replacements before, but after you suggested that "Bastards of Young" I was hooked. Great song. Anyway, good luck in the Finals Junkenstein.

Glad to hear you got into the Replacements. Awesome band. I think that's the beauty of this game, it can point you towards some good artists. I know I've gotten into a few singers and bands thanks to other players posting their stuff. Best of luck to you too, if the public vote's anything to go by, it's gonna be a close final!

Ladies and gentlemen, my picks are in. And this has been an amazing contest. The cliche of 'nobody deserves to lose' definitely applies here. Good luck to both of you.

Before the results are posted, thank you both to Junkenstein and Sudden Rush for putting out some AMAZING choices during your runs on FAN Idol. This was a joy to do especially with guys like you.
Also, as for the Finals voting, I am abstaining. This is to avoid favoritism (since I know which songs you both sent in) as well as those pesky ties (as we have 5 judges that turned in songs).
Results to come by the end of the night!

Alright, this is it. The end of FAN Idol VI. We started with 14 competitors... and 1 no-show. Through the last 4 months, we have whittled that number down to 2: our intrepid Moderator Sudden Rush and a man that after several competitions got to the finals Junkenstein. One of you two have won FAN Idol, while the other has finished in second place. Now, coming into the Judges' categories, Junkenstein holds a one point lead over Sudden Rush after winning the Public Vote 6-5. With that, we go to the first judge's category: Free Style, offered up by me. The reason I'm doing it this way? So that the wind doesn't go out of the sails before we hit the final category. In Free Style, Sudden Rush chose "Ain't Nobody's Business" by Etta James, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, and BB King. Junkenstein chose "Pretty Good Year" by Tori Amos. By a tally of 3-2, the winner of this category is: {Spoiler}Junkenstein. He is currently up 2-0 over Sudden Rush. If Junk wins two more categories, he wins FAN Idol. The next category is Don't Quit Your Day Job from Widow's Peak. Junkenstein chose Jeff Bridges' "Fallin' and Flyin'". Sudden Rush chose Gene Wilder's "Pure Imagination". By a tally of 4-1, the winner of this category is: {Spoiler}Sudden Rush. Junk still leads 2-1. The third judges' category was Glee offered up by CageKing. Rush chose New Directions' "We Are Young". Junkenstein chose The Human League's "Don't You Want Me". In the first of two 5-0 decisions, the winner of this category is: {Spoiler}Sudden Rush. The score is now tied at 2, with 3 categories to go. The fourth judges' category was Bleeps and Bloops (or Video Game Music). Both chose songs from the same series, that being Metal Gear Solid. Junk chose "Metal Gear Solid Main Theme (Remix)" by Harry Gregson-Williams. Rush chose "Snake Eater", Metal Gear Solid 3's ending theme, by Cynthia Harrell. By a 3-2 decision, the winner of this category is: {Spoiler}Junkenstein. The overall score is now 3-2 Junk; Rush must sweep the categories to win, Junk must win one more category to win. With the penultimate category, the subject chosen was Metal of the New Millennium. Junk chose Iron Maiden's "Blood Brothers" and Rush chose System of a Down's "Chop Suey!". By the second of two 5-0 decisions, the winner of this category is: {Spoiler}Sudden Rush. The score is now 3-3, with one category left. The final category was The False Finish. Junkenstein chose The Raspberries' "Overnight Sensation" and Rush chose Roxette's "The Look". By a 3-2 vote, the winner of this category (and winner of FAN Idol VI) is: {Spoiler}SUDDEN RUSH!
Rush, congratulations on winning your first ever FAN Idol! Junkenstein, it has been a pleasure to listen to your songs, and even though you fell short at the end, you should feel proud to come home in second place. With that, I thank you all so very much for putting up with me for the last 4+ months on FAN Idol. To the World Series' crew, best of luck with your game. I hope that you guys blow the roof off of this place with it. See you down the road for FAN Idol VII! The spreadsheet: {Spoiler}

The False Finish ---------------- "The Look" by Roxette VS "Overnight Sensation" by The Raspberries ---------------- On one hand, you've got a nice, fun little piece of 80s pop (and boy, is it 80s) in "The Look." I know it sounds sort of condesending when I say that, but I don't mean it that way at all. It's okay for a song to just be fun, and this one is fun. On the other hand, I'm a sucker for organ (Wait, that sounds horrible out of context) and strong voices. I love this pick because it's a bit unexpected, and even though the false ending in The Look is cooler, I have to go with the fruity sensation that is The Raspberries. Winner: "Overnight Sensation" Metal of the New Millenium ---------------- "Blood Brothers" by Iron Maiden VS "Chop Suey" by System of a Down ---------------- I'm not a huge metal guy, so if I pick against your song here, go ahead and write me off as someone who doesn't know music and you wouldn't be wrong. Another round featuring a song I know well facing a song I don't know. With "Blood Brothers," you've got Bruce Dickinson's voice which can make a grocery list sound epic. Even though it's not a 'hard' song, you know they're anything but soft. There's this vibe of power behind it, as if the band is saying 'we can thrash at any second and tear this f****** house down if we want to.' And on the flip side, the known quantity that is System of a Down. Serj's back-and-forth bouncing from beautiful harmonies to frantic energy will always have a special place in my heart. Even though I have to give "Blood Brothers" points for that one fan's ridiculously-tiny supporters scarf, I have to give the food-based picks a 2-0 lead. Winner: "Chop Suey" Bleeps and Bloops ---------------- "Main Theme (Remix)" from Metal Gear Solid 2 by Harry Gregson-Williams VS "Snake Eater" from Metal Gear Solid 3 by Cynthia Harrell ---------------- First off, I've never played a Metal Gear game. I never even used Snake in Super Smash Brothers Brawl, so I'll start the judging once I turn in my gamer card. Now that that's out of the way... I really don't like "Snake Eater." I love the fact that you went for a non-video-gamey song in this category, but it felt like a poor man's Bond theme. By default, the theme from MSG2 wins. Winner: "Main Theme (Remix)" from MSG2 Glee ---------------- "We Are Young" by New Directions VS "Don't You Want Me" by New Directions ---------------- I. Am. Not. A. Gleek. At. All. There are few songs that they do on this show which I feel are good covers. I dislike every song on that show being treated as a showstopper-slash-American-Idol-tryout, so keep that in mind when you read this. "We Are Young" is good for what it is, but I'm not all that big of a fan of the original. "Don't You Want Me" is actually a pretty decent cover and not very far from the original at all. That's kind of the reason I went against it; it feels much more like a case of 'well anybody could do that with this song' than "We Are Young." Also, my mom didn't imply that I was conceived to "We Are Young." I can't say the same for "Don't You Want Me." Winner: "We Are Young" Don't Quit Your Day Job ---------------- "Fallin' and Flyin'" by Jeff Bridges VS "Pure Imagination" by Gene Wilder ---------------- These are two absolutely inspired picks. To the picker of "Fallin' and Flyin'," thank you for going with a less-than-obvious pick. To the picker of "Pure Imagination," thank you for not using this song in the Glee round. To me, this is a tie. I said early on in the competition that I would reward great and surprising over great and expected, and to me, the Jeff Bridges pick was a bit more unexpected. Gene Wilder's song is something I think all of the judges grew up with, and it would win this round 95 times out of 100 against anyone else, but I just have to reward what I feel is the bigger risk. Winner: "Fallin' and Flyin'" Free Style ---------------- "Ain't Nobody's Business" by Etta James, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan and BB King VS "Pretty Good Year" by Tori Amos ---------------- To dig out one great artist for that one home-run pick this late in the competition is something that's extremely difficult to do. I know, I had to try and do it twice. To dig out FOUR unused artists for that one home-run pick is unreal. The sheer amount of talent on stage for "Ain't Nobody's Business" is staggering, even if don't count coked-out Chaka Khan as 'there.' This is an amazing contrast with "Pretty Good Year" - just a woman with a piano and a soul. Wow on both counts. There is no wrong answer here, but I think BB King and his talented trio of female friends feels more right. Winner: "Ain't Nobody's Business"

Ah well, disappointed to not go all the way and win the thing, but I couldn't have lost to a better competitor. Just a great selection of songs from Rush there. I wear my silver medal with pride!
I'd definitely love to be a part of Fan Idol VII, either as a contestant or maybe try my hand at judging. In any case, thanks again to all the players and judges and of course PKS for making this game so ridiculously addictive.

Just a note: it will be a while before FAN Idol VII starts. After all, we've got the FAN Series of Pop Culture coming up, then after that will FAN Idol VII start (probably from someone else since this one drained me pretty badly).

Goodness! That's a heck of a comeback! And so close! I love that we always seem to have close head-to-heads in the end! Loved both contestants and would love to see Junkenstein go back to judging in season VII. (He was always a great guest judge in my opinion.) See you all as a contestant in Season VII. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roxanne- "The Look" www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlVI7ZNiFlIGood song, classic vibe. And man, that false finish! There ya go! vs. The Raspberries- "Overnight Sensation" www.youtube.com/watch?v=s82ho7w9X6QWonderful! Wonderful! Just what I’m looking for to kick these finals off right! WINNER: The Raspberries- "Overnight Sensation" That’s the stuff champs are made of! --------------------- Iron Maiden- Blood Brothers www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ujb8MFnUBcThat’s digging deep and finding some epic stuff right there. vs. System of a Down- "Chop Suey!" www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSvFpBOe8eYOhhhh yeeeeaah! That’s the good stuff! More upon more please! WINNER: System of a Down- "Chop Suey!" It’s like the CZW of music, I’m telling ya! -------------- Harry Gregson-Williams- "Metal Gear Solid Main Theme (Remix)" www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECjDfQd8QVcThat’s pretty freaking great pick yet again! Yes, oh my! I love this stuff! vs. Cynthia Harrell- "Snake Eater" (Metal Gear Solid 3's Ending Theme) www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CbFAZ2ztlEHa! Amazing similarities in taste! This is freaking great! Makes me want to play the heck out of this game right now! WINNER: Harry Gregson-Williams- "Metal Gear Solid Main Theme (Remix)" Good grief, that’s epic video game music now matter how you slice it! -------------------------------------- New Directions- "We Are Young" www.youtube.com/watch?v=ul-pLYo5MJ8Not sure which is worse: the amount of songs I actually know from this show or the song renditions themselves. I don’t get the idea of taking a perfectly fine song and doing … well, this stuff to them. That being said, this song rules hard enough not to be damaged too badly by New Directions. vs. Glee- "Don't You Want Me" www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj-7CNuhKX4Another good song. Another head-scratcher by me. Don’t get me wrong; you made a great pick with this song. It’s just Glee that makes me scratch my head. Would have rather seen this category be “Songs Covered By Glee in Their Original State.” (Although, I hate choosing from lists; I like categories that give freedom of creativity than having a list to choose from.) WINNER: New Directions- "We Are Young" By an ever so slim margin, but it kinda gets the job done just a little bit more. ------------------------------ Jeff Bridges- Fallin' and Flyin' www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTYyS8bxV78Good one! Country represent! Good acting performance too! Loved this song immediately upon seeing the movie. vs. Gene Wilder- "Pure Imagination" www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2pt2-F2j2g*melts* This is totally right on target with the category. Fantastic pick. WINNER: Gene Wilder- "Pure Imagination" It’s always impressive to see where contestants’ minds go from category to category, and come up with things I would not have thought of at the time. (Sidenote: someone do me a favor and select this exact same category the next time I’m a contestant.) ---------------------------------- Etta James, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, & BB King- "Ain't Nobody Business" www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoBlmp9cOL4That’s some freaking power right there. Wow. vs. Tori Amos- "Pretty Good Year" www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpLCFph9iv4Oh my geez! Freaking LOVE her! Haven’t had the guts to pull the trigger and select a track from her in gameplay thus far, but I’m so glad you did! WINNER: Tori Amos- "Pretty Good Year" Such a mark for Tori Amos! Such a mark!
